Overview Data Sheets: Relay in Terminal Block Case H 4116

This document provides an overview and specifications for the H 4116 relay module. The key points are: 1. The relay module is certified to SIL 2 safety integrity level and tested according to international standards for use in transferring signals between safety systems. 2. It has a single changeover contact and low power consumption, enabling it to be controlled directly from fail-safe modules. 3. The module provides electrical isolation between the input and output contacts, with clearance and creepage distances rated for voltages up to 300V.

H 4116 (9912) Overview Data Sheets

H 4116
Relay in terminal block case H 4116
SN Test Certificate No: 12/IQSE/HB-93-F/91
SIL 2 according to DIS IEC 61508, DIN VDE 0116

The module is tested according to DIN IEC 61508 and certified for SIL 2
(Report No. HB 110396), corresponding to RC 4 according to DIN V
19250.

The relay is used to transfer signals between HIMA systems and other sy-
stems. Mounted in a terminal block case the relay enables to shift the
transfer to the connection area (terminals), and so the influence of external
voltages can be prevented. The terminal case can be mounted on all
mounting rails according to DIN 46277 sheet 1 to 3.

Due to its low current consumption the relay can be controlled directly from
the outputs of fail-safe modules with an output load of at least 20 F (accor-
ding to DIN 19238). The output signal of the module then must not be
loaded additionally. An LED indicates the energized relay coil.

The relay has a safe isolation according to DIN VDE 0106 Part 101/11.86
between the output contact and the input. The clearence in air and the
creepage distance are dimensioned for overvoltage class III up to 300V.

Input voltage 24 V DC / -15...+20 %

Current consumption 15 mA
Switching time approx. 7 ms
Reset time approx. 5 ms
Output 1 floating changeover contact, sealed
Relay data: cf. reverse
Degree of protection IP 20 according to IEC 529
Ambient conditions -25...+50 °C

Restrictions
The module is not suitable for a safety switch-off like e. g. the shutdown of
the entire fuel supply of incinerators, as safety related shutdowns for con-
tinuous operation require mandatorily a diversity of function and equip-
ment; for intermittent operation they require two monitored switch-off
elements (according to VDE 0116/10.89, item 8.7.2).
Application condition according to IEC 61508 / SIL 2:
Testing interval for resistive load 4500 h, appr. 1 year
Testing interval for inductive load 4500 h, appr. 1 year
and suitable suppressor circuit
Testing interval for inductive load 450 h, < 3 weeks
according to Report No. HB 110396
