Philosophy of Education
Education is defined in the dictionary as the process of receiving or giving systematic
instruction; also described as an enlightening experience. There is such accuracy in that
definition because I believe that education, rather it is being given or received, is an enlightening
experience. I believe that a classroom should be a child’s educational getaway because they are
able to think freely. I will use fun yet educational strategies to ensure that my students will grow
both emotionally and mentally.
Education is one of the very things that measures how a child will grow both emotionally
and mentally. Keeping track of each individual child’s mental performance is an effective way to
becoming an ideal teacher. Students go through a lot of hardships in other parts of their lives that
they might not have help in. Education should be one thing that students should not have
problems with getting the help needed. As an educator, I promise to ensure that each student
accomplishes each standard to the best of their ability.
Margaret Mead once said that “children must be taught how to think, not what to think.”
This quote is one of the very few quotes that relates to how a child should learn. A lot of
individuals might let the quote go over their heads. We must give students information to
comprehend and study, but at the same time we can’t overload their minds. Some students retain
information just for a long enough time to complete homework or pass a test. Being that I am a
teacher, I promise to make learning less frustrating and more enjoyable for students to
comprehend and store the information into their mind. I believe that a classroom should be a
child’s educational getaway because they are able to think freely.
Education is something that everyone should have the privilege of receiving. Being
educated today is a very important trait to have under your belt. Society today is not the nicest to
those who lack intelligence and is oblivious to the things around them. As a teacher I promise to
make each student understand that they are important, and the world needs them. As an educator
I promise to make sure that my students reach their full potential in everything that they we
participate inside the classroom and outside of the classroom. As an influential person in my
student’s life, I promise to devote my time into ensuring that they grow into the great adults that
they are capable of being.
