Accountable for ensuring the database components of our client supported
systems provide the performance and availability required by the customer
businesses.
Define and agree backup and recovery requirements for all database services
Provide specialist Database Administration services to support the production
environment
Maintain the integrity of the production environment by controlling and managing
all database infrastructure changes.
Work with IT managers and architects to implement and maintain pertinent
standards and develop systems accordingly.
Identify potential service improvements from the capabilities and advances
provided by our client’s standard database technologies.

Production support for the implementation of database services
Proven Physical Database design and implementation skills·
Involved in Technical Implementation and support for Oracle & SQL Server databases in
Windows, Linux and UNIX.(minimum 5 years experience)
Knowledge of UNIX Korn, Bourne and Bash shell scripting, PL/SQL and SQL.
Track record of good problem solving skills·
Applied Change Management processes to databases, and migrated changes across
quality environments for development, test and production. ·
Good communications skills·
Knowledge of SQL Server 7 to 2005, and Oracle 7 to 10i or above database
management systems ·
ITIL Foundation Certification
What are the day to day Job Desirable:
Duties of the individual:
Awareness or knowledge of Netbackup and RMAN an advantage.·
Awareness or knowledge of large multi Terbyte Unix based Oracle systems an
advantage.·
Awareness or knowledge of large SAP systems an advantage.·
Data modelling or Case tool knowledge an advantage.
OCP Certification
Other relevant information
May require on-call 24*7 cover and out-of-hours work.
Key focus on audit point implementation, hardening user-ids, protecting listeners
and improving software currency for the Oracle Db’s in the UK.
