ISRA WA MIIRAJ
Any event associated with yourself, is yours, but an event that is associated with prophet Muhammad (saw) is a big
lesson.

Exalted is He who took His Servant by night from al-Masjid al-Haram to al-Masjid al-Aqsa, whose
surroundings We have blessed, to show him of Our signs. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Seeing.

than Me as Disposer of affairs,
Al-Isra’ wal-Mi’raj took place during a time when the Prophet (saw)
was facing intense hardship and pain. The Quraysh, who were his
tribe and his family, constantly ridiculed, humiliated and oppressed the
Prophet (saw) and his followers. Moreover, the Prophet (saw) had just
faced the Year of Sorrow (’Aam al-Huzn), during which he (saw) lost
his beloved wife Khadijah (ra), and his uncle Abu Talib, who was his
protector and ally.
In addition to all these burdens, when the Prophet (saw) had travelled to
Ta’if to spread the Islamic message, the people of Ta’if had rejected
him in the most cruel way, sending their children into the streets to
stone him until he left the city.
Having gone through so much grief and suffering, the Prophet
Muhammad (saw) was given a truly beautiful and comforting gift. He
was transported not only to the Sacred Sanctuary and through the
skies, but ultimately into the Divine Presence, the source of all comfort
and hope. One of the most important lessons of Al-Isra’ wal-Mi’raj,
therefore, is that ‘with every hardship [there will be] ease’ (The
Noble Qur’an, 94: 5).
Al-Isra’: From the Ka’bah to Al-Aqsa
When the Prophet (saw) was sleeping in the house of Umm Hani (ra) in
Makkah he said, ‘the roof of my house was opened and the Angel Jibril
[as] descended’ (Bukhari). Scholars reconciling between various
narrations, say the Prophet (saw) was then taken to the Hijr, the semi-
circular wall of the Ka‘bah, where the Prophet (saw) said that Jibril (as),
‘opened my chest, and washed it with Zamzam water. Then he brought
a golden tray full of wisdom and faith, and having poured its contents
into my chest, he closed it’. [Bukhari]
The Prophet (saw) continued, ‘I was then brought a white beast which is
called al-Buraq [from the Arabic word barq, meaning lightning], bigger
than a donkey and smaller than a mule. Its stride was as long as the eye
could reach’. [Muslim]
At several points along the journey, Jibra’eel (as) stopped Buraq and
told the Prophet (saw), ‘Dismount and pray’. The first stop was at ‘the
place of emigration’ i.e. Madinah - and soon after this night the
Prophet (saw) would meet the Ansar and migrate to Madinah. The
second stop was at Mount Sinai, where Allah (swt) revealed the
Torah to Musa (as). The third stop was at Bethlehem, where ’Isa (as)
was born.
The fourth stop was the grave of Musa (as), ‘I happened to pass by
Musa [as] on the night of my Night journey by the red sandhill whilst he
was standing praying in his grave’ (Muslim). We know that his grave is
located, ‘a stone’s throw’ away from the holy land of the Blessed Masjid
Al-Aqsa (Bukhari). This incident clearly shows us an example of what
the Messenger of Allah (saw) said about Prophets (as) after they pass
away that, ‘The Prophets are alive in their graves praying’ (Abu Ya‘la).
Finally, the Messenger of Allah (saw) arrived in the holy city of Al-Quds
(Jerusalem) and he said, ’When we reached Bait al-Maqdis [literally ‘the
holy house’ another name for the Blessed Masjid Al-Aqsa] Jibril (as)
pointed with his finger causing a crack in the rock, and he tied the Buraq
to it [at the western wall of the noble sanctuary]’ (Tirmidhi). Waiting
inside were all 124,000 Prophets (as). Jibra’eel (as) led the Prophet
(saw) to the front, and he (saw) led them all in prayer in this blessed
space.
What is Isra - a journey which Muhammad was sent from Masjid haram > Masjiiul Aqsa
Miiraj ( from the word Uruj ) - going up - ascending ( from earth to heaven )
This journey has been proved in Quran & several hadith. Whoever disagrees with Isra is a fasik.
Suratul isra - the miracle of Quran ( surah called Isra ) but the only 1 ayat explain about isra wal miiraj but many ayahs
explain about banu israil. Also this surah is called Banu israel because it explain a lot of banu israel.
Wanajmi idha hawaa explains a lot about Isra wal miiraj.
After 1 ayat, it talks about nabi musa.
Banu israel claim there is no prophet after Nabii Musa, any other prophet that comes after Musa (a.s) is not their
prophet, they belong to other people. They agree it’s a prophet but for other people.
Allah wants to show them Musa has a very strong connection between Musa a.s and Muhammad s.a.w and Masjidula
aqsa and masjidula haram. That is why Allah made the journey from Masjidul haram to masjidul aqsa.
Allah could have wished Muhammad to go directly to heaven without passing Masjidula aqsa but he wanted to show
them the connection.
When Allah wants to explain anything holy, he will use Subhana…..The Exalted, because the event will not make make
sense in your brain, not normal, not something you can think about, if you don’t believe in Allah, you wont believe.
Yusabihu lillahi, mafisamawati wama fil ardhi, fasabih bismirabikal adhim. ( All that is in the heavens and the Earth
sabih Allah, and you also Sabih Allah ) . Everytime you hear something big, you say “SubhanaAllah”
Isra ( he was sent by Allah ) bi abdihi ( he sent his servant ) everytime Allah tries to praise a person, he will use Abdi
( his servant ) - the servant servers his Master. All his Amal is sent to his master.
Lailan - a certain part in the night. - so that the muslims would believe - he was not suppose to be seen so that people
would believe in the message, If he travelled in the morning, everyone would see the buraq. - there people when they
heard about Isra wal miiraj, they ritad. because when they heard a journey that takes 1 month from masjidul haram to
aqsa in one night, they could not believe. but one thing they did not understand that everything goes with aqsiya, the
energy of the traveler - the type of energy involed was with Allah. Inama amruhu idha arada shaia an yakulu lahu kun
fayakun - When Allah says kun - it already happens.
This journey was done for Prophet muhammad s.a.w after many misfortunes and hardships, to please / relax him.
Allah willed the journey from Masjidul haram, he brought buraq, an animal, he was toldt climb, he was shown, he was
told go down - this place Musa a.s spoke to Allah, lets go - get down here, this is baitul ham this place Issa was born.
He passed through nabi Musa twice. Muhammad says in a hadith “ he passed by nabi Musa on his grave, he was
praying, on red earth. Also he was shown the place where nabi musa spoke to Allah. Why he passed by Musa a.s
twice? In heaven also he spoke to Musa twice a.s telling Muhammad to ask Allah to reduce the # prayers. All his event
was done to show the strong connection of Musa a.s and Muhammad s.a.w and to tell the banu israel that your
prophet is Musa a.s is strong connected to Muahammad A.s. So they will not deny Muhammad s.a.w.
The journey begin from Masjidul haram - he was taken by Jiibril, he was cleansed his heart - he told him you’ve been
ordered by Allah to travel from here to Masjidul aqsa- The 1st mosque build on earth before even humans came -
riwaya says it was build by the angels - Quran says “ ina awala bayti wudhia linasi, lalladhi bimakati mubarakah - 1st
house is masjid rahman.
Masjidul maqdis - Biatulil muqadas - ( the exalted house ) many prophets were burried there. Nabi ya Allahu yahya,
nabi zakariyah, issa all of these were there in baitul muqadas. Allah wants to prove this Umma that this Baitul
muqadas, even though the yahud claim its theirs, I will show them that is for the muslims. All the prophets from Adam
- issa were lined up behind Muhammad s.a.w. and were maamuma. Muhammad s.a.w as there Imam. They all accepted
Muhammad s.a.w to be their imam. Whoever claims that his prophet is the right one, they should know that
Muhammad s.a.w is there leader.
There was swalat before Allah giving us the 5 prayers. but not the same. There was udhu even before the 5 prayers.
This is proved in a hadadith when Muhammad s.a.w said he heard the footsteps of bilal in heaven. He asked bilal -
what ibadah do you do - everytime I take udhu, I do sunatul wudhu. When prophet muhammad s.a.w descended, from
isra he did not pray swalatul fajr, he started praying swalatul dhuhr - awala swalati dhahra fil ardhi. Then Jibril came
down and taught Muhammad s.a.w how to pray.
When he reached in Masjidul aqsa, he tied buraq to a place. he entered the masjid and lead the prayers. After that,
ascended to heaven ith jibril to see the kingdom in heaven. When he reached the 1st heaven, he requested the the
gate to be opened. He met and greated Adam a.s , then he ascended to 2nd heaven- he met Nabi Isa and Yahya, the
3rd heaven he met Yusuf , 4th heaven he met - nabii Idris, 5th heaven - het met Harun ( the brother of Musa ) , 6th
heaven he met Nabii Musa a.s , 7th heaven he met Nabii Ibrahim a.s.
Why her met Adam ? so he can know that he will also return to heaven just like Adam.
Why he met Isa and Yahya? To show him that the Yahud will fight you just like they fought Yahya and Isa. They
slaughtered Nabi yahya with a saw.
Why he met nabi Yusuf? He got big dhulma, discrimination from his siblings, to tell Muhammad s.a.w that he will also
be objected and discriminated.
Why met Idris? - Idris was very strong hima in da’wa, telling Muhammad that he has be patient and hima in doing
da’wa.
Why he met Nabi Harun ? His people were very big enemies for him and then they changed to love him a lot > the
same thing will happen to Muhammad s.a.w, his people will come to love him eventually.
Why het Musa a.s > to show him the difficulties that Nabi Musa a.s and he will also go through the same hardships.
Lastly he met with Nabi Ibrahim > he was the one who built the ka’ba and Muhammad s.a.w will also perform Hajj.
That is hijatul wida.
The swalat was given to Muhammad s.a.w this day, but Muslims don’t take Swalah seriously. If we follow swalah,
sheitwan will not be able to get in our minds and mislead us. 1st he was given 50 swalat in 1 day, on his way out he
met Musa a.s and he asked him what Allah said, he told me go back and request to be reduced, he experienced
difficulty with the banu israrel. The number was lovered to 40 > he told me to go back and again and again until it
reached 5 prayers.
Muhammad saw people tongue being cut with scissors, he asked, who are these people? These were maulim, sheikhs,
khatib, those people who preach good but they do the opposite.
