I. Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, students must be able to attain the following with at least 75% level of
proficiency:
 use locational skills to gather information from primary and secondary sources of information;
(EN10SS-IVa-1.5)
 analyze scenarios and records to demonstrate their ability to differentiate between primary and
secondary sources

II. Subject matter (Literature)

Reference: English learning material for Grade 10, Curriculum Guide
Materials: Laptop, Projector, Speaker

III. Procedure
A. Presentation of the lesson
1. Routine activities

 Checking of attendance
2. Simple recall
3. Explanation of objectives
4. Motivation
 Video presentation
The students will complete a concept map by supplying it with
information that can be taken from a video clip entitled “It’s more fun in
the Philippines”

B. Development of the lesson


 Concepts for analysis
1. Definition of a primary source
2. Kinds of primary sources
3. Formats of primary sources
4. Definition of a secondary source
5. Importance of primary sources

Processing questions:
1. What is a Primary source?
2. What are the different kinds of primary sources?
3. When do we usually use primary sources?
4. How do secondary sources differ from primary sources?
5. Why is it important to use primary sources?

 Exercise/Drill
a. Interactive Game/ Activity (Primary source or Secondary source)
The blackboard will be divided into two columns for primary and secondary
source. Students will classify the information to be given by the teacher by
going to the column of their answer. Th teacher will continue to give
information to be classified until there are only five remaining students that
will be considered as winners of the game.

 Reinforcement activity (Group activity)


a. Students will be divided into two groups. Each group will be given 5
scenarios to analyze and be classified as primary or secondary source.
Students will be given 5 minutes to write their answers on the board. The
group with the highest number of scores are declared as winners.

 Generalization
1. How do we differentiate primary sources of information to secondary sources?
2. What is the importance of using primary source in getting information?

IV. Evaluation
Directions: Classify and tell whether the materials listed below are primary or secondary
sources of information? Write P if the material is primary or S if the material is secondary.
