The instances are as follows: -

1. The first Interaction between Linton and Lisa where Linton remarked that she doesn’t
Like MBA’s. This remark contributed to the unpleasant welcome that she received
during her first interaction.
2. She was disturbed by the fact when Richard Clark who impressed her with his
conversation during the recruitment barely noticed her or welcomed her in the
organization.
3. Scoville had an condescending attitude, always showed his superiority by telling how
he moved his way up gradually by working and his work experience and he considered
Lisa a learner every time and hence bestowed her with menial tasks like copying
reports,

relationship with him

Lisa can work on her communication skills and converse in such a way that will develop her
relationship with Linton. Understanding that both are women and both are ambitious and this
can help Lisa to connect easily.

Lisa can work more on Visibility by actively participating in projects which will also make her
colleagues say good things about her which will create a good image of her.

She should stop acting as a learner and in future should be more Proactive in giving relevant
suggestions/opinions in agency meeting or any other meetings.

1. Linton could have been more proactive in describing the objective to Lisa and she
could have reviewed her performance on that basis. She could have given her different
opportunities to prove herself and outshine. Linton could be more engaged with Lisa in
understanding and Knowing all the aspects of her daily schedule and objectives
2. When Lisa described about the condescending attitude of Scoville’s to Linton, Linton
could give her word to counsel Scoville about his attitude and how it’s affecting his
colleague and others. Linton could have organized some outside work meet to interact
and connect more on emotional level.

Linton should value her associate and show appreciation to all her understanding and
coping attitude.

Lisa is great with her communication skills so this should motivate her in making new friends
and getting her work done quick in a smart way

Lisa was already appreciated for her memo and also for her analysis so she has a further
scope of improvement if she works on same thing and practice more of it

Lisa should encourage herself in speaking during the meetings and keep her relevant opinion
which will attract Linton’s and Scoville’s attention and create a good image of her

Two Soft tactics which Lisa can use are: -


1. She can approach Scoville with a friendly approach rather than an aggressively

conflicting with Scoville, she can use his strengths of experience, fuel his ego and

make allies with Scoville to get a favorable recommendation through him to Linton

2. She can soften Linton by making an Emotional appeal and communicating to her “how

she would like to learn from a great performer like Linton, and also support her in all

possible manner

1. She can approach Vernon and HR and explain them her situation, and ask them to

intervene without compromising her situation

2. She can make coalition with all her peers who are from other department, who share

her view of Scoville, and get them to help her in convincing Scoville, Linton and also

other seniors as well as HR

I think there have been a biased approach leading to breach of Ethics by Lisa’s co-workers,

following are the justifications: -

1. Scoville did condescending and disrespectful behaviour with Lisa who was a fresh

joiner to Houseworld, this behaviour mistreating your co-workers is Un ethical

2. Linton always allowed her personal friendship with Scoville to overshadow assertions

by Lisa and not listening to her issues for resolving

3. Linton did not do a fair appraisal of Lisa, as she had never sat with her for setting her

objectives nor putting up to her expectations clearly.

4. Linton and Scoville demeaned and degraded Lisa for being MBA time and again.

No, I do not think Lisa should quit her job at household because: -

1. Lisa will miss opportunity of progressing in Houseworld, which is an established

consumer products company where she can acquire experience in various stages of

product lifecycle.

2. Despite being in a difficult situation she needs to be assertive, present her perspective

in a proper and mature manner, and do her communications in more non meeting

places to make her Team more comfortable. If She leaves Houseworld she will

continue with her low self-esteem and think of herself as quitter


3. Lisa will miss the opportunity of learning about taking ownership, taking initiatives

and getting results rather than being meek and blame others for her failures, she has to

learn how to arrange resources and come out winner at Houseworld even if she has to

work a lot on changing her approach as otherwise, she will always struggle in

corporate scenario
