1. Identify ordinal numbers from 1st to 100th with emphasis on the 21st to
100th object in a set from a given point of reference. M3NS-Ic-16.3
2. Read and write Roman numerals up to thousands.

Day 1: Synchronous
Concept Notes
With the exceptions of first, second, third, fifth, eighth, ninth, and twelfth,
we write ordinal numbers in words by adding -th to the number word.
Note: For cardinal numbers ending with y, change y to i before adding th.
In compound ordinal numbers, only the last figure is written as an ordinal
number.
For a more detailed explanation, please refer to your book Soaring 21st Century Mathematics (2 nd
Edition) pages 28-29.
Examples:
57th = fifty-seventh
82nd = eighty-second
112th = one hundred twelfth
Exercise:
Directions: What is each letter’s position in the English Alphabet? Write the
correct ordinal number on each blank.
1. D = ______ 6. P = ______
2. N = ______ 7. A = ______
3. H = ______ 8. K = ______
4. U = ______ 9. Y = ______
5. G = ______ 10. T = ______
Day 2: Asynchronous
Activity no.1
Time started:______
Time finished:______
Directions: Answer Let’s Work Together (letter A and B) on page 30 of your
book entitled Soaring 21st Century Mathematics (2nd Edition).
Day 3: Synchronous
Concept Notes:
The Roman numeral system makes use of the letters I, V, X, L, C, D and M.
I=1 X = 10 C = 100 M = 1 000
V=5 L = 50 D = 500
The largest numerals are written first from left to right following these rules:
1. The numbers are added if a smaller number comes immediately after a
large number. Example: VI = 5 + 1 = 6
2. Subtract the smaller number from the larger number if the smaller
number appears immediately before a larger number.
Example: IV = 5 - 1 = 4
2
3. Only the powers of 10 (I, X, C, and M) can be repeated and they can
be repeated up to three times only. Example: VIII = 5 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 8
4. Only the power of 10 (I, X, and C) can be subtracted.
Example: Do not write VC for 95.
Instead,
95 = 90 + 5
= (100 -10+5)
= XCV
5. Subtract only one number from another.
Do not write Instead
95 VC XCV
