HOUSE JOB RULES
1. The duration of House Jobs in each discipline / speciality will be for 6 months and the house jobs in various
disciplines / specialities will be allotted on the basis of merit. The total duration of house jobs will not exceed a
period on one year.
2. During selection for house jobs, the following order of preference will be observed.
A) Candidates who have passed the latest annual examination of the year.
B) Candidates who have passed the latest supplementary examination of the year.
C) If a fresh graduate from KMC/AMC misses the job in his her term, then he / she will be put at the
bottom of the merit list in the next selection but will be give preference over the graduates from other
Medical Colleges in the following order.
a. Khyber Medical College, Peshawar
b. Ayub Medical College, Abbottabad
c. Other Medical Colleges
i. Govt: Medical Colleges
ii. Private Medical Colleges
iii. M.D Graduates
D) All candidates must be present for interview during the interview.
3. a) Changing of house job will not be permitted after the job are allotted and
b) Mutual transfer will not be allowed.
4. Jobs falling vacant during the terms may be filled on locum basis and its duration will in no case extend beyond
the period of that particular term. He/she can continue his/her job for the remaining period to complete the six
months job. The extended period will be honourary. As such certificate of those six months will be issued to
them accordingly.
5. House officers will be entitled to 10 days casual leave in each session. If a house officer does not join within 07
days of the start of the jobs or if he/she joins and absents him/herself for 10 days then his/her job will be
terminated on the report of his/her Professor/Consultant incharge.
6. Only house officers and not their dependents are entitled for free medical treatment.
7. The appointment as house officers will be purely on temporary basis liable to be terminated at any time without
assigning any reasons by the Administrator of the concerned hospital.
8. No attachment to additional ward to be made.
9. They will not be issued any certificate for their house job if they leave before the completion of present job i.e. 6
months.
10. They will abide by the hospital discipline and observe al rules and regulations and instructions regarding work /
conduct.
11. Five marks (5 marks for each additional attempt) will be deducted.
12. Subject to availability, single or double accommodation will be provided to all house job doctors according to
the merit list which must be immediately vacated after completion of house job.
13. House Officers opting for vacancies and selected, will not be allowed to apply for vacancies arising later on.
However those applying for jobs against vacancies arising later on, will not be entertained even if they produce
NOC from Professor I/C of the unit where they have assumed charged.
14. For payment of stipend each house officer must submit performance evaluation report (PERs) from Professor I/C
of the units before issuance of stipend.
15. The vacant house job seats will be re-advertised after 15 days of the interview.
16. House officer using Air-conditioner in summer must be charged @ Rs. 700/- per month, per room for the period
from 15th April to 15th September. Each house officer prior to the acceptance of house job appointments will
undertake an affidavit with regards to observance of rules and regulations.
17. Certificate: a) Standard uniformly designed certificate will be issued by all the Medical Superintendent of
the recognized hospitals.
b) Certificate will only be issued on the recommendation of professor/consultant incharge and production of
clearance from:
1. Professor I/C
2. DMS (Admn)
3. Warden / Provost doctors hostels
4. Library KTH/LRH/HMC
5. Account section
6. They will be free to bring forth the notice of the hospital administration any of their personal
grievances / complaints individually but in no case they will organize for any joint representation,
agitation etc, or to become a member of any association with the hospital.
