Setup Microsoft Authenticator app

Set up multi-factor authentication with a mobile device in Microsoft 365 Business
1.) On your workstation, open a browser, go to aka.ms/mfasetup, you will see one of the following two
screens. Select Mobile app if you see screen (a). Select Notify me through app if you see screen (b).

IMPORTANT: “Authenticator app or Token” box needs to be checked, Select Set up Authenticator, and
skip to step 3
2.) Select Receive notifications for verification, Click Set up
3.) Follow the 3 steps below under “Configure mobile app”
a) If you have an iPhone, open the Microsoft Authenticator app, and tap the plus icon (+) in the top right
corner or Add account. Select Work or school account and then tap Scan QR code.
b) If you have an Android, open the Microsoft Authenticator app. Go to Add account, Select Work or
school account, and tap Scan a QR code.

4.) Allow camera access to scan QR code or enter code manually
5.) After the scan completes, you will see “Mobile app has been configured for notification and
verification codes” and Click Next
6.) Respond to the notification sent to your mobile device
7.) Tap APPROVE on the sign in request notification

8.) Add phone verification to your password, Click Done
9.) After setup is complete, you will have the option to change your authentication method and settings by
accessing this KB article below:

Congratulations! You have completed the setup for the Microsoft Authenticator app and can receive push
notifications for multifactor authentication.
