Abstract
Subject: Environmental law
Topic: A study of the regulations of bio-degradable waste.
What is biodegradable waste?
Biodegradable waste is an organic waste, which easily decomposes into soil releasing by
products such as carbon dioxide, methane, water and some other organic molecules.
Problems with biodegradable waste?
Biodegradable waste comparatively other wastes, is not a big environmental issue but if it
accumulated in large quantities with no proper regulations it can cause danger to soil as well
as humans (In ways of diseases such as cholera etc).
Eg: Dump yard of New Delhi consist most of bio degradable wastes reach the height of Taj
Mahal by the end of 2020 which is very concerning for environment as well people who are
living nearby.
Need of regulations for biodegradable wastes?
Regulations on waste management definitely a positive for the environment and people.
There are many International as well National bodies which are tackling the problem with
awareness programmes, setting goals, convincing law makers etc. Few of them are
International Solid Waste Association.
My project aims to research and analysis the various regulation methods on biodegradable
waste so that the waste decomposes efficiently and eco friendly to nature as well as humans.
