Tips for teaching

young learners
Stick to routine
#1 Many of the young learners aren’t at the level when they can
understand everything that happens or why. That's why it is important
to сreate routine as it gives the students a concrete framework in
which they will know what to expect and how to act.

Change activities often

#2 Studies have shown that younger learners become bored very quickly as they
can only concentrate on one thing for about 10-15 minutes at a time. It's
because they have a short attention span. Therefore if you give them activities
that last pretty long, you’re going to lose control of the class completely.

Make children work in different groups

#3
Group activities are always a good idea, but teacher should remember
to mix up groups.
It provides an opportunity for children to work with different people
and develop an understanding of each other’s and their own strengths
and difficulties.

Promote positive behaviour and compliment

students
#4 Classroom management is one of the biggest struggle in working with young
learners. But it is quite possible to encourage them to behave better. As it is
essential for them to see that their good behaviour is recognised. That's why you
might reward your students for example with a game at the end of the class.
And one more method of encouragement is to compliment the learners for
anything. By doing so you will motivate students to subconsciously try harder.

Be patient!
#5
Young learners can be really unexpected. They have a lot of energy, so
it’s difficult for them to sit quietly on the same place. They cannot yet
fully control themselves. They want to share what’s on their mind and
spend time with their friends. Then, have patience with your students as
they learn the procedures, routines, and rules of your classroom.
