ES–94 1ND-TV ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM – ECD SYSTEM

• After replacing the engine assembly, perform both the


"Injector Compensation" and the "Pilot Quantity Learning
Values Reset" functions using the intelligent tester. If the
engine assembly and the ECM are replaced at the same
time, perform the same initializations/registrations as when
replacing the ECM.
• The "DPF Deterioration Record Clear" function appears on
the intelligent tester display only for vehicles with the DPF
system.
1. When the diesel throttle body assembly, EGR valve
assembly or turbocharger sub-assembly is replaced,
[Corrected] perform initialization
(a) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
ES NOTICE:
Do not start the engine.
(b) Turn the ignition switch to OFF and wait for 30
seconds of more.
(c) Turn the ignition switch to ON and wait for 10
seconds or more.
2. Pilot Quantity Learning Values Reset (When replace
all injectors)
HINT:
When any injectors and/or the engine assembly are
replaced, the pilot quantity learning values stored in the
ECM must be reset.
(a) Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the tester on.
(c) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and
ECT / Utility / Pilot Quantity Learning Values Reset.
(d) Press "Next".
HINT:
Confirm that the ignition switch is ON and the
engine is stopped.

HINT:
• Inspect air intake system, especially hoses and pipes
between the air cleaner and the turbocharger.
• Check for abnormal disconnection, pipe and hose
squashing, and any damages in the intake system.
• Using your hand, check whether the pipes and hoses
in the intake system are securely connected.
• By applying soapy water and revving up the engine,
air leaks from the intake system can be checked by
checking for bubbles.
• Check for any modifications in the intake system
made by the user.

HINT:
• Inspect air intake system, especially hoses and pipes
between the air cleaner and the turbocharger.
• Check for abnormal disconnection, pipe and hose
squashing, and any damages in the intake system.
• Using your hand, check whether the pipes and hoses
in the intake system are securely connected.
• By applying soapy water and revving up the engine,
air leaks from the intake system can be checked by
checking for bubbles.
• Check for any modifications in the intake system
made by the user.
