Grade 8 Physics: Accelerated Motion

This document discusses uniformly accelerated motion and provides examples of calculating acceleration, velocity, time, and distance for objects undergoing uniform acceleration. It defines uniformly accelerated motion as motion in a straight line with a uniform change in velocity. It presents the equations for calculating acceleration, velocity, time, and distance and includes 5 example problems demonstrating how to use the equations to solve for the unknown variable.

Uniformly Accelerated Motion
Gerak Lurus Berubah Beraturan (GLBB)

What is a uniformly accelerated motion?

In figure , we can see that at t= 0, the car is at rest or its velocity is zero.
One second later, its velocity becomes 10 m/s.
At the next second the velocity changes into 20 m/s, and ten it changes into 30 m/s at the following
second.
Thereby, the car’s velocity changes 10 m/s in every one second
Uniformly accelerated motion is a motion in a straight-line with a uniform change in velocity.

Graph of velocity as a function of time on a uniformly accelerated motion

 Acceleration:

The rate change of velocity of a moving body is called acceleration. Which is mathematically formulated
as:

α = acceleration (m/s2)
V t =¿the final velocity (m/s)
V o =¿the initial velocity (m/s)
t = time (s)

If we achieve the following result from calculation”

α = (+), then the body moves in a uniformly accelerated motion (GLBB dipercepat)
α = (-), then the body moves in a uniformly decelerated motion (GLBB diperlambat)
V t =¿the final velocity (m/s)
V o =¿the initial velocity (m/s)
α = acceleration (m/s2)
t = time (s)
s = distance (m)

Example:
1. Sebuah mobil bergerak dengan kecepatan tetap 36 km/jam. Berapa meterkah jarak yang ditempuh
mobil itu setelah bergerak 10 menit?
km 36000 m
Given: V = 36 = =10 m/s
jam 3600 s
t = 10 menit = 10 × 60 = 600 s
Asked: S
Answered: S = v x t
S = 10 x 600 = 6000 m

2. A body moves in a uniformly decelerated motion with initial speed of 30 m/s so that it stops in 10
seconds. What is acceleration?
Given: V o =¿ 30 m/s
V t =¿ 0 m/s
t = 10 s
Asked: α
V t −V o 0 m/ s−30 m/s −30 m/s 2
Answered: α = = = =−3 m/s (the minus sign indicates that the
t 10 s 10 s
body is decelerated)

3. Sebuah mobil yang mula-mula diam bergerak di percepat beraturan hingga kecepatannya menjadi
72 km/jam setelah bergerak selama 5 s. Percepatan yang di alami mobil tersebut adalah…
Given: V o =¿ 0 m/s
km 72000 m
V t =¿ 72 km/jam = 72 = =20 m/ s
jam 3600 s
t=5s
Asked: α
Answered:

V t −V o 20 m/ s−0 m/s 20 m/s

α= = = =4 m/s 2
t 5s 5s

4. A car which is initially at rest moves with acceleration of 10 m/s 2. What is its speed after 2 seconds?
Given: α = 10 m/s2
V o =¿ 0 m/s
t =2s
V
Asked: t
Answered: V t =V o +¿ α.t
V t =0 m/s +¿ ¿10 m/s2. 2 s
V t =¿0 + 20 m/s = 20 m/s
5. Sebuah benda bergerak dengan percepatan 8 m/s 2. Jika kecepatan awal benda 6 m/s, tentukan
kecepatan benda setelah menempuh jarak 4 m!
a. 20 m/s
b. 15 m/s
c.  48 m/s
d. 10 m/s
Pembahasan:
Diketahui:
a = 8 m/s2
v0 = 6 m/s
s=4m
Ditanyakan: vt ….?
Jawaban:
vt2 = v02 + 2 a . s
vt2 = 62 + 2. 8 . 4
vt2 = 36 + 64
vt2 = 100
vt = 10 m/s
Jadi, kecepatan benda setelah menempuh jarak 4 m adalah 10 m/s
Jawaban: d
