REACTION PAPER
(BASED ON THE STORY OF “EL PRESIDENTE”)
The movie “El Presidente” is a 2012 historical biopic film based on the
life of General Emilio Aguinaldo, the first president of the Philippine
Republic. The film star Jeorge “E.R” Ejercito Estregan in the title role as
Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo and with Cesar Montano as Andres Bonifacio.
The story touches on the revolutionary encounters, as well as the many
issues, that took place during Aguinaldo’s time. It also explores his inner
struggles as a husband, a member of the katipunan, a war leader, and a
politician. It also aims to present his achievements and even some
controversial issues about him such as his relationship and conflict with
other Filipino hero. This movie attempt to contribute something valuable
not only in the Philippine cinema also to all the Filipino and pass it
through generation to generation. To form a sense of patriotism and
open mind in heroism. At first I’m not interested in watching this movie
because I thought it would be boring for us as a teenagers to watch that
kind of movie. But I realized that it would be nice for me as a student to
know some history of the Philippine and to know about the life of Gen.
Emilio Aguinaldo also how the first Philippine president fights for our
freedom. After I watched the film I already understand how the Filipino
heroes risk their life for the Filipino people and for the country that they
defend and protect against to those invaders that want to take and control
the country.
