Statistical process control (SPC) is a technique for measuring and controlling product quality by monitoring manufacturing processes and making necessary adjustments. It involves taking samples and comparing them to historical values to identify if a process is out of control, using SPC charts for visual representation. This method helps companies improve quality, efficiency, and reduce costs in a competitive environment.

Statistical process control

It is a technique used for measuring and controlling the quality of the product by
regularly monitoring the manufacturing process.

Statistical process control is a method to monitor the statistical variations in a process.

The term control suggests that this method is used to make adjustments to a process. As
the products are produced, samples are taken and measured. These samples are measured
with historical values. If the measurements do not match then, the process is called out of
control. SPS charts are used as visual communications of the statistics that are easy to
update and interpret. Generally, the Upper control limit (UPC) and Lower control limit
(LCL) are plotted based on the historic values. This process is implemented to move a
company by preventing based on quality control.

Hence, this process is used mainly for controlling the process. Since many industries face
problems due to competition, the manufacturing cost also increases. To overcome these
problems, it is necessary to take action by controlling. The companies should control
their factors, their processes, improvement in quality, efficiency and costs.
