METHOD STATEMENT FOR EXCAVATION-EASTERN REGIONAL HOSPITAL-PHASE 1
PREPARATION OF SITE:
All unsuitable material and surplus suitable material shall be run to spoil in tips at the proposed car
park areas approved by the Construction manager for stock piling in order to keep the designated area
for the main hospital building free for equipments and labor movement.
EXCAVATION WORKS
The excavation works shall start from Zone A and continue from Zone B in that sequence
towards Zone C as indicated in the main building zonal distribution layout plan Fig.1 which
shall be attached to this document for reference.
The excavation of cutting shall be carried out in accordance with the relevant approved
Excavation drawings and to the levels, widths and heights shown in the Topographic layout
drawings.
Any excess depth excavated below the formation level exceeding tolerance of 300mm shall be
made good by backfilling with suitable material of similar characteristic of that removed and
compacted in accordance with specifications.
The excavation method shall be open cut and shall be strictly machine cut. Also the gradient of
open cut slope shall be 90-degree maximum because of nature of soil.
During excavation, we shall make drainage ditch slope to around the demarcated excavated
line pit as precaution in case rainfall to prevent surface run off into ditch.
