1. Determine the remainders for each of the following division expressions.

Division
Remainder
Expression
79 ÷ 5 4
2134 ÷ 10 4
1836 ÷ 3 0
1021 ÷ 4 1
2097 ÷ 8 1
15811 ÷ 23 10
4866 ÷ 31 30

2. If today is Thursday, what day will it be 3,471 days from now?

 After every seven days, it will be Thursday again. There are 495 sevens in
3,471, and if we multiply 495 by 7, we will get 3,465. Thus, 3,465 days from
now, it will be Thursday, and by counting, we can see that 3,471 days from
now, it will be Wednesday.

3. If it is now 11:00 AM, what time will it be 298 hours from now?

 After every 24 hours, it will be 11:00 am again. There are 12 twenty fours in
298. Multiply 12 x 24 = 288. This means that 288 hours from now, it will be
11:00 am, and by counting, we can tell that 298 hours from now, it will be
9:00 pm.

4. If it is now 9:00 AM, what time was it 250 hours ago?

 In finding for the time 250 hours ago, we need to count the time backward.
There are 10 twenty fours in 250. Multiply 10 x 24 = 240. This means that 240
hours ago, it was 9:00 am, and by counting backward, we can see that 250
hours ago, it was 11:00 pm.

5. Give 5 numbers from 1000 to 1500 whose remainder when divided by 6 is 0.

 In between 1000 to 1500, the numbers 1008, 1032, 1122, 1242, and 1458 will
have a remainder of 0 when divided by 6.

6. Give 5 numbers from 1000 to 1500 whose remainder when divided by 6 is 2.

 If we will divide the numbers 1010, 1034, 1124, 1244, and 1460 by 6, we can
have 2 as their remainders.
