We know that if a proper SWOT analysis is conducted for our business, we will be able

A major weakness that may count against us is the fact that we are a new retail outlet and

As a matter of fact, our publicity and advertising strategy is not solely for winning
customers over but to effectively communicate our brand.

● Place adverts on community based newspapers, radio stations and TV stations.

● Encourage the use of word of mouth publicity from our loyal customers
● Leverage on the internet and social media platforms like; YouTube, Instagram,
Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Snapchat, Google+ and other platforms to promote
our business.

● Distribute our flyers and handbills in target areas in and around our neighborhood
● Advertise in our official website and employ strategies that will help us pull
traffic to the site
● ensure that all our staff members and management staff wears our branded shirt at
regular intervals.
The future of a business lies in the numbers of loyal customers that they have the capacity
and competence of the employees, their investment strategy and the business structure. If all of
these factors are missing from a business (company), then it won’t be too long before the
business close shop.
Make sure that the right foundation, structures and processes are put in place to ensure
that our staff welfare are well taken of. Our company’s corporate culture is designed to drive our
business to greater heights and training and re – training of our workforce is at the top burner.
As a matter of fact, profit-sharing arrangement will be made available to all our
management staff and it will be based on their performance for a period of six years or more. We

know that if that is put in place, we will be able to successfully hire and retain the best hands we
can get in the industry; they will be more committed to help us build the business of our dreams.

Team Productivity
Th

The wide range of work tasks required of retail associates can be completed much more
efficiently when team members work together, coordinating their efforts to leverage individual
sh

team members' strengths and preferences. A lack of solid teamwork can cause certain tasks to be
completed more than once while other tasks are neglected. Communication between team
members, a key component of teamwork, is vital to ensuring that all employees know what needs
to be done, and what their specific responsibilities are.

Effective teamwork is crucial to work around stressful situations and ensure that team
members stick together rather than turning on each other as an outlet for their frustration. Teams
who work well together are more likely to thrive and perform well in stressful situations.

The Customer Experience

professional and friendly teams can create welcoming atmospheres that make customers
feel at ease. Teams who communicate and work awkwardly with each other can similarly create
awkward environments that simply don't feel right. Dysfunctional teams who act aggressively or
snidely with each other can create a hostile store atmosphere that drives customers away. Solid
teamwork can give customers the impression that store employees work almost like a family,
making them more prone to ask team members for guidance or engage team members in
conversation.

Building Teamwork

co
eH w
Teamwork is not always something that happens on its own, especially in a workplace

o.
setting. Savvy retail managers understand the value of using team building exercises to
rs e
ou urc
strengthen relationships within retail stores. Retail businesses who treat teams with respect can
facilitate the team building process and make it easier for team members to form lasting
friendships in addition to professional workplace relationships.
o
aC s

Effective teamwork creates its own set of characteristics that makes it possible to see the
vi y re

cohesion in a group. When an efficient team gets to work, the structure that has been put into
place helps the group obtain productive results.
ed d

A team is created to complete the goals it is given. An effective team is committed to

ar stu

completing its goal by using the team's resources. It does not mean that as individuals the people
that make up the team share the same point of view or are all in agreement on what is best for the
is

group. It means that when the team is presented with a goal, they can come together and work as
a single unit to complete the task.
Th

In order for a team to act as a team everyone must be participating in the creation of a
solution. A team does not have extra members. Each member of a team is essential to the team's
sh

success, and when the group is given a task, each member knows what their job is and sets out to
put in their fair share of the effort.

A team is able to communicate effectively and there is a feeling of open communication

between all members of the group. Issues within a team are handled by face-to-face

[Link]
communication. Team members do not talk behind each other's back as there is a respect
developed among team members that necessitates direct and open communication on all issues.

A team has a hierarchy and a built-in decision-making system that helps it to react
quickly and effectively to all situations. The members of the group are respected for their various
areas of expertise, and the leader of the group has developed the ability to obtain the group
members' opinions to formulate the group's response. This applies to decisions made within the
group ranging from resolving internal conflict to a potential change in group leadership.

Brainstorming is one way that groups come up with the solution to a problem. An
effective team is able to gather information from each member and formulate that information
into a response. The team becomes adept at dismissing ideas that will not work, and including
effective ideas into what would become the team's solution to an issue.

Elements for Effective Teamwork

co

All members of a high-impact team must be fully committed to achieving the team's

mission and goals. Each member must devote a reasonable amount of time and energy to
rs e
advancing the team's mission and must be able to trust that all other team members are doing the
ou urc
same.
o

Effective teams must have open lines of communication. Communication must be honest
aC s

and flow between all team members equally. Team members who understand each other's unique
vi y re

communication styles, or who agree on a single style of communication from the outset, are
more likely to move the team in a productive direction that everyone understands and supports.
Team members must never be hesitant to communicate with other members about issues and
ed d

concerns, as well as new ideas or personal observations.

ar stu

All team members should feel free to think creatively--to try new things and fail without
the fear of consequences. This aspect of teamwork brings together all of the other elements for
is

effective teamwork. Team members must trust that others will listen openly to their ideas, they
Th

must be able to confidently and openly communicate their new ideas, they must be trusted
enough in their area of expertise to lead the way in new initiatives and they must be adaptable
sh

enough to accommodate the changes inherent in bringing new ideas to realization.

What Makes Teamwork Effective?

Diversity

Most members bring a diversity of thought, experience and skills to a team. Leaders who

recognize and encourage this will be rewarded with new and inventive ways to accomplish a job.
Effective teams are willing to try a new solution to an old problem. They also are open to new or
unusual suggestions and don’t dismiss a solution without consideration.

Teamwork Exercises for Retail Managers

Display Contest

Divide your team into groups and give them supplies. Instruct them to build a display
designed to attract customer attention and to highlight the product's features. Give them an hour
to build the display, and have them stand at the display to work with "customers." Recruit friends
and other employees to sample the displays and interact with your team members. Gather
feedback and ratings from the "customers," and award a coupon, gift card or free lunch to the
winning display team.
