Reflection

This document provides instructions for making a DIY popcorn machine using two empty cans, a tea light candle, and popcorn. The instructions describe how to cut and modify the cans to create a candle-powered popcorn popper. When the candle is lit underneath one can, the popcorn inside the other can will pop as it is heated by the flame. The reflection notes that popcorn reacts when heated by things like pots and that this project demonstrates an easy way to pop popcorn using only a candle and empty cans.

DIY Popcorn Machine

Materials:

 Tea light or small candle

 Cutter and Scissor
 Marker
 2x cola cola can (can also use sprite or fanta cans)
 Uncooked popcorn
 Match or Lighter
 Small bowl (optional)

Procedures:

1. Grab a can and the marker pen. Draw a line about 2/3 on the way down, then draw a line
back towards the top but not all the way up. Another line across and finish it up with
fourth (Make sure both of the cans are already empty and clean).
2. Grab your cutter and cut out the shape you have drawn on the can. Leave a small part of
the can intact then fold it upwards.
3. Take your other can and cut all the way around 2/3 on the way down. Use a scissor to
trim on the edges to make it smooth.
4. You need to cut 4 lines with equal distances at the base of the can, then cut out 2 of the
four flaps. Push your thumb on the bottom to make it flat.
5. With the two left flaps at the base of the can, cut out 4 small incisions. And then fold
those 4 small incisions down the can. It will serve as your candle holder.
6. Place your tea candle on the second can and light the candle with your match or lighter.
7. Place the first can just on top of the second can, not totally pressing the candle. Make
sure that the candle is still lit.
8. Finally put some popcorn inside the first can while the candle is still lit. Only a small
amount of popcorn is needed for it will make the can heavy and fall flat on the candle.
Wait for a few minutes for the popcorn to be cooked inside the can you can use a bowl to
catch the popcorn.

Reflection:

In this experiment, I was not there because I played basketball for the intramurals but I
talked to sir Paras for the permission. We all knew that popcorn reacts with the things that heated
like pots. The candle and the thin can used to make popcorn. For my conclusion, we can make
popcorn easily by using only the candle and the thin can. The cutter for cutting the thin can in
shaped and the lighter for lighting the candle. Sorry for my group, for being absent.

Reflection:

In this experiment, we cannot made it perfect because the sugar we brought is brown
sugar instead white sugar. The alcohol that we brought is perfect but it is not properly fit to the
brown sugar. Some sugar reacts but the whole brown sugar can’t. We brought the things that are
needed, I thought that sugar can react to the alcohol and make the experiment perfect. I’m glad
for a new experiment that we’ve done, another knowledge and idea gained for doing it. Thank
you and God bless.
