Emily Brontë's Life Timeline

Emily Jane Bronte was born in 1818 in Thornton, England. In 1820, her family moved to Haworth where her mother died in 1821. Emily and her sisters were sent to the harsh Cowan Bridge School where two sisters died of tuberculosis. Emily began writing stories in the imaginary worlds of Gondal with her sister Anne from a young age. She worked briefly as a teacher but disliked it. In 1846, she published poems anonymously along with her sisters. Wuthering Heights was published in 1847 to critical acclaim. Emily caught a cold at her brother's funeral in 1848 which developed into tuberculosis and led to her death at Haworth Parsonage at age 30.
