Measuring tools
 These are used to calculate and determine the specific amount of an ingredients.

What is measuring?
 The process of calculating and determining the specific amount of an ingredient required by using a
standard measurement device, such as measuring spoon, measuring cup and so on…

Dry measuring cup


 These are used for measuring solid or dry ingredient like flour, sugar, oats or baking powder.
They’re usually sold in set and are made of plastic, metal, or porcelain.

Liquid measuring cup


 Usually glass, plastic or metal with handle. These allow you to pour a liquid into the cup and bring it
even with a measurement line without spilling.

Measuring spoons
 Used to measure smaller amount of dry and wet ingredients.

Digital weighing scale


 Device used to measure the weight or mass of an ingredient accurately.

Hanging scale
 An old tool of measuring weigh. Commonly used for fish, meat, vegetables and fruits.

Portioning scooper
 Used for portioning, measuring, and forming shapes. Comes in different sizes and it is also a
popular utensil used by professional chefs.

o Accurate measurement is very important in cooking. There are many recipes that requires the exact
amount of ingredients. Best example of it is baking. That’s why it is important for us to follow the
correct techniques in measuring and weighing.
Mixing tools and equipment
 These are used in mixing, blending and stirring ingredients.

Baking Tools
 These are tools used in baking.
 Rolling pin - a cylinder rolled over pastry or dough to flatten or shape it. Usually made of wood or
metal.
 Baking pans – a flat pan with straight sides that are ¾” taller. It is used to hold runt butters such as
cake butter.

 Pastry brush - A pastry brush, also known as a basting brush, is a cooking utensil used to spread
butter, oil or glaze on food. 

 Parchment paper baking paper – also known as bakery paper or parchment paper, as it is often
called especially in the US – is grease proof paper that is used in baking and cooking as it provides a
heat-resistant, non-stick surface to bake on.
