I. Selecting Host Training
Establishment (HTE)
Selecting Host Training Establishment (HTE)
1. Objective
To be able to select companies that could
provide the best on-the-job training to students in
accordance to their chosen field of specialization.

2. Scope
This internship guidelines covers the internship
program of all academic units, except the Education
programs of Colleges of Arts and Sciences, College of
Allied Medical Sciences, College of Nursing, and
International School. These units have their own unique
internship guidelines for their students.
Selecting Host Training Establishment (HTE)
3. General Criteria
Selection of the Host Training Establishment
(HTE) is the primary factor towards the successful
conduct of the University's Internship Program. To
ensure that the HTE can provide the best training and
relevant on-the-job-training experiences to the
students, the college where the students belong, must
carefully select the internship host.
Selecting Host Training Establishment (HTE)
General Criteria
As such, the following must be consider in the selection of the HTE:
3.1 The HTE must be accredited by the college where the students
belong. No intern shall be deployed to a non-accredited HTE.
3.2 The HTE must be willing to partner with LPU and provide
industry exposure to the student as required by the student's line of
specialization.
3.3 The HTE must be duly licensed and a registered institution/
establishment in the Philippines.
Selecting Host Training Establishment (HTE)
General Criteria
As such, the following must be consider in the selection of the HTE:
3.4 The HTE must provide an appropriate and comprehensive
training program for the student trainee,
3.5 The HTE must have obtained a least an average of 4.0 (above
average) rating in the evaluation.
3.6 No person working in the HTE in any capacity is an immediate
relative of the intern.
II. Internship Enrollment of
Regular Students

1. The schedule of enrollment of internship
subject shall be set by the Registrar's Office earlier
than the irregular students.
2. Enrollment in the internship subject is a pre-
requisite to deployment of the student to HTE.

3. The student must have taken and passed all
subjects prior to the term the internship subject is
to be offered, as per program curriculum.
4. For purposes of determining the academic
qualification of prospective interns, an SER must
be submitted together with the application for
internship.

5. In the event that the grades of the students in the current
semester are not yet available for evaluation, he/she may be
allowed to enroll, upon the discretion of the Dean of the
College or the Chair of the program the student belong, under
the following conditions:
5.1 The student shall submit for evaluation an updated
SER to the college, as soon as the grade becomes available or
not later than two days before deployment to HTE.

5. In the event that the grades of the students in the
current semester are not yet available for evaluation,
he/she may be allowed to enroll, upon the discretion
of the Dean of the College or the Chair of the
program the student belong, under the following
conditions:
5.2 In the event that the student fails a subject,
he/she becomes irregular, as such the enrolment
guidelines for irregular students shall apply.

5. In the event that the grades of the students in the current
semester are not yet available for evaluation, he/she may be
allowed to enroll, upon the discretion of the Dean of the College
or the Chair of the program the student belong, under the
following conditions:
5.3 A student who initially enrolled the internship subject,
but later found out lacking in academic requirements after
evaluation will have to withdraw/ drop his/ her enrollment,
subject to the policy of withdrawal/ dropping of subject.
III. Internship Enrollment of
Irregular Students
Internship Enrollment of Irregular Students
1. Irregular students are those whose enrolment deviates from the
regular offerings of his/ her curriculum.
2. Irregular students who will enrol his/ her internship may be
allowed, subject to the following:
2.2 For other students, all subjects up to the semester
immediately preceding the term the internship is to be offered, must be
taken and passed. However, upon the discretion of the Dean of the
College or the Chair of the program the student belong, a student with
back subjects, may still be allowed to enrol under the following
conditions:

2.2.1 The back subjects are not more than 9 units of non-
professional subjects or 6 units of professional subjects or a
combination of 3 units of professional subjects and 6 units on non-
professional subjects.
2.2.2 In determining the units of back subjects, the related
advanced subjects completed by the students shall be considered.
2.2.3 The schedule of the academic subject shall not interfere
with the internship schedule. In the event that the schedule of
internship will be adjusted to give way to the schedule of the academic
subjects, the following shall be complied with:

2.2.3.1 The student shall submit certification
from the HTE stating conformity with the intern
adjusted schedule.
2.2.3.2 A projected internship training
schedule to prove that the required number of hours
can be completed within the prescribed period.

Alternative for Internship

This guide aims to help students who will opt for an Industry/ Company based
Research Study as an alternative internship program. Specifically, it aims to:
1. Enhance students’ skills and learnings through the Industry/ Company based
Research Study relevant to their program and specialization;
2. Develop lifelong learning skills for interns, as well as the values relevant to
professionalism and work appreciation.
B. SCOPE
This guide is applicable to all regular 3rd year (2018-2019 curriculum) and 4th year
students (2016-2017 curriculum) enrolled in the 2nd semester of AY2020-2021.
C. GENERAL CRITERIA
C.1 Industry/ Company based Research Study
1. The Industry/Company based Research Study must be aligned to the specialization of
the students.
2. The learning experience must provide students a venue to apply the knowledge learned
in school.
3. There are clearly defined learning objectives related the students professional and
academic goals.
4. This alternative activity must be provided by Industry/Company preferably who has a
Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the University.
C.2 Students
1. Students must not have more than 9 units of back subjects as prescribed in the student
handbook.

Based Assignment as an
Alternative for Internship

A. OBJECTIVE
This aims to support students who prefer the project-based assignment as an
alternative internship program.
Specifically, it aims to:
1. Develop and improve students’ technical knowledge and skills in participating to
a project assignment;
2. Enhance professional skills of the students like communication, leadership,
teamwork, and creativity.
B. SCOPE
All regular students under the 3rd year and 4th year levels following the
2018-2019 and 2016-2017 curriculum are qualified to take the project-based
assignment. This alternative internship program is applicable for the students
enrolled in the Information Technology, Computer Science, and Computer
Engineering. The project output can be software and/or hardware. The project shall
be in a partner or a group of not more than five (5) students. The composition of
members shall have a proper designation or role in the project. The delivery of the
task is online and will be guided by the assigned practicum adviser. The beneficiary
of the project is any of the units/departments/colleges in LPU Cavite. This serves
as a learning experience for the students in preparation for a real project
involvement.
C. GENERAL CRITERIA
C.1 Project-based Assignment
1. The project shall be assigned or proposed by the students which is aligned with their area
of specialization.
2. The development of the project formally executes activity using the recommended
methodology and approach.
3. The progress of the project development shall monitor through the weekly
accomplishment report and online presentation.
4. The completion of the internship assignment is the accomplishment of the project.
C.2 Students
1. Students must not have more than 9 units of back subjects as prescribed in the student
handbook.
2. Students shall accomplish the project to complete the internship program.
