International Dispute Resolution (IDR) LL.M.
CURRICULUM
1. Which modules can be taken?
The IDR LL.M. program consists of mandatory and elective modules.
Among the mandatory modules there are courses on Arbitration, Private
International Law, International Investment Law and Arbitration, Specific Areas of
Arbitration, Introduction to Academic Writing and Case Analysis and ADR-Methods.
These courses are compulsory for all students.
Another mandatory requirement of the IDR LL.M. is the Master Thesis.
The elective modules consist of an optional internship or courses on Written Skills
for Counsel and Arbitrator, Oral Skills for Counsel and Arbitrator, Legal
Negotiations, and New Areas of Practice in International Dispute Resolution.
Students must complete 10 credits in the form of either an internship covering 125
working hours plus one elective module, or two elective modules. However, you
are encouraged and welcome to participate in all elective modules regardless and
are free to attend extra classes beyond the 10 credit minimum requirement.

2. Is it possible to participate in other courses offered by Humboldt
University?
Yes, you can participate in other modules (courses) offered by Humboldt
University, including language courses, in addition to the IDR LL.M. curriculum.
3. What are the Master Thesis requirements?
The Master Thesis is a mandatory requirement of the IDR LL.M.
In order to graduate you will have to prepare (research and draft) a paper not
exceeding 100,000 characters (excluding spaces) and defend it in an oral exam
with your chosen supervisor.
You should select the Master Thesis subject within the field of study of the IDR
LL.M.
