ROCKSLEDGER CRUSHER

JAW SETTING - HYDRAULIC:
It is advantageous to prepare a gauge or template for each jaw setting as shown in Fig. 3.
Jaw setting is obtained by moving the groove block forwards or backwards, by means of the hydraulic
ram, so that shims may be added or removed. All jaw settings quoted are from tip to hollow of the jaw
teeth, measured horizontally in the closest position at the bottom of the Jaws.
To assist in checking the jaw setting without turning the flywheel to the closed setting position, refer to
Table 3, and check setting with crusher flywheel pointers at top dead centre.
1. Rotate flywheels to position flywheel pointer at top dead centre.
2. Slacken drawback rod nuts sufficiently to release drawback spring tension.
3. Loosen groove block wedge bolts then knock forward and clear of the groove block.
4. Slacken groove block aligning bolts.
5. Using the hydraulic adjuster, move groove block forward until all shim plates can be removed.
6. To obtain required setting, check pointer is still at top dead centre (open side setting), move groove
block forward or back to open or close jaws just enough to hold the previously prepared gauge or
template in position; with the point in the groove of two teeth on the fixed jaw, and the wide edge on
top of the corresponding tooth on the swing jaw, as shown in Fig. 3.
7. Measure the distance between the back of the groove block and the machined face of the groove
block seating. This measurement is equal to the total thickness of shim plates required.
8. Select shim plates totalling measurement taken. Remove gauge or template and move groove
block forward to allow shim plate(s) to be fitted.
IMPORTANT: Ensure that shim plates are clean, perfectly flat, and free from burrs. Set of shims
supplied suits all settings and all stages of wear. Do not add to the set.
9. Release hydraulic pressure. Check that the groove block seats squarely back onto shims.
10. Tighten groove block wedge bolts, again check that the groove block seats squarely.
11. 1100 x 760, 1100 x 800, & 1300 x 1050mm only - Tighten groove block alignment bolts.
12. Refit drawback assemblies and compress spring sufficiently to obviate ‘chatter’ during operation.
