What’s new?

The learners will look and examine the provided picture and
they will answer the following questions:
1. What can you say about the picture?
2. Have you seen or found those chickens in your locale?
What do we called to those chicken?
3. What is the difference between native and hybrid chicken?
4. What is the importance of raising organic chicken?

B. Development
What I know?

The learners will write the words/phrases that they can associate
with the words written inside the circle.
What’s in?

The learners will answer the provided “Word Hunt Activity”. In


this activity, they will be challenged to find the six (6) words that are
related to the lesson.

After that, they will look for the meanings of the words that
they found in the “Word Hunt Activity”. They may search online or
offline using any available resource.

What is it?

The learners will read and study the lesson focused on


Common Breeds of Philippine Native Chicken at the “What Is It”
section, pages 10-11 of their TLE learning module.

TRIVIAS:
1. Chickens are descended from red jungle fowl.
2. Chickens can speak to each other.
3. Chickens can dream.
During the discussion, the learners will locate in the Philippine
Map the location of each breed of native chicken.
The common plumage colors and patterns of the native
chickens are the following:

 Reddish brown (“Dalusapi” and “Mayahin”);


 Silver laced with bluish-green tint (“Talisayin”);
 Alternate barring of black, white, gray and reddish brown
(“Bulik”);
 Solid white (“Puti”);
 Smoky-white to brownish-gray (“Abuhin”);
 Brown to gray with white spots (“Lasak”); and
 Solid black (“Itim”).

C. Engagement
What’s more?

The learners will make their own graphic organizer about


common breeds of Philippine native chicken. In this activity, they are
challenge to be creative and to synthesize their own learning.

What I can do?

With the aid of video recording device, the learners will


discuss common breeds of Philippine native chicken (If not feasible,
they may write an essay that discusses the same topic.) They will be
evaluated using the performance rubric below.
What other enrichment activities can I engage in? (Additional
activities)

The learners will take photos, download images, or draw the


breeds of Philippine native chicken that they can find or see in their
locale. They will compile it in a form of scrapbook. In this activity,
they are challenge to be creative. The rubric below will be used to
evaluate their output.
