How To Model The Metal Hose in Start-Prof

The document discusses how to model a metal hose in START-PROF pipe stress analysis software. It presents two options for modeling: using a nonstandard expansion joint with high flexibility or analyzing two independent models by cutting the piping. The metal hose's stiffness is considered negligible in the analysis.

How to Model the Metal Hose in

START-PROF
Read about START-PROF pipe stress analysis software

Metal hose is bellows inside the braid. The braid resist to the pressure thrust forces. The
whole metal hose element don't pass the pressure thrust forces on the connected pipes. The
metal hose stiffness is so low that it could be ignored in analysis.
There's a 2 options how to model the metal hose:

First Option

Example project file: Metal hose1.ctp

Add the nonstandard expansion joint with a very big flexibilities
