7. POLYNOMIALS- CASE STUDY Answer any 4 questions. (4x1=4)
CASE STUDY 1:
The below picture are few natural examples of parabolic shape which is represented by a
quadratic polynomial. A parabolic arch is an arch in the shape of a parabola. In structures,
their curve represents an efficient method of load, and so can be found in bridges and in
architecture in a variety of forms.
8. Find whether the lines representing the following pair if linear equations intersect at a
point, are parallel or coincident: 2x -3y + 6 = 0 , 4x -5y + 2 = 0 (2)

9. Find the zeroes of the polynomial 21 y – 11y -2 and verify the relationship between the
zeroes and the coefficients. (3)
10.Ramesh travels 760 km to his home partly by train and partly by car. He takes 8hours if he
travels 160km,by train and the rest by car. He takes 12minutes more if he travels 240 km by
train and the rest by car. Find the speed of the train and car respectively. (5)
