Volvo offers high torque power take-off options, the PTO-HT16 and PTO-HT20, for their FM/FMX trucks. These power take-offs are mounted between the engine and gearbox to provide independent, clutchless power directly from the engine crankshaft. They can operate both when the vehicle is moving up to 10 km/h and when stationary. Applications include concrete pumps, sludge/suction vehicles, sweepers, and fire trucks. The PTO-HT16 can provide up to 1600 Nm of torque while the PTO-HT20 provides up to 2000 Nm.

These PTOs are not available with engines delivering enough torque at the flywheel
to utilize its maximum output torque. E.g. for D13K540 engine with PTO-HT20 the
maximum torque for the PTO equipment is approximately 1700 Nm at 1400 rpm
and for PTO-HT16 the maximum torque for the PTO equipment is approximately
1340 Nm at 1400 rpm.
