Setting up the Font

• Download the Nodesto Caps Condensed font family .otf files

• Install all the fonts by opening each .otf file and clicking on Install
o If you are not currently logged into an Admin account on your computer, you may be asked to log in
with the username and password

Edit the Word Template

• When you open the template, you will notice
3 text section you can edit
o Title
o Subtitle
o Credit
• The template is formatted so each of these
stays where it needs to be
o If you need to edit the size or
number of lines for either the Title or
Subtitle, the Credit may get pushed
off the page
o If this happens, click in the empty
space between the Subtitle and the
Credit and delete as many lines as
needed to get the Credit back in
alignment
• The DMs Guild logo should not move with
the text and should not need to be adjusted
o If it needs adjusting, simply click on it
and drag it with your mouse
o You can also click it and use the
arrow keys on the keyboard to move
it around gently
Adding an Image
• To add your image, click Design from the Word menu, then select Watermark, then select Custom Watermark…
• In the prompt, check Picture watermark
o Click the Select Picture… button and choose the image file you want to use
o If you have not pre-sized the image (see below) choose the Scale that best displays your image
o Uncheck the Washout box if it is checked
▪ The image will still appear washed out; this is so you can edit the text over it. It should appear
normal when you export the final PDF

Sizing Your Image

• To have better control of how your image shows up in this template it is best if you create a cropped version
that is 8.5” x 11”
• You can do this in Photoshop or any other image editing software
• If you do this, choose 100% for Scale when selecting your background image

Exporting Your Cover Image as PDF

• To export the .pdf file, click File from the Word menu, then select Export, then click the Export PDF/XPS button
• Name your file and click the Save button
• You can use online services like Smallpdf to combine this PDF with the rest of your PDF document so the cover is
included in the downloaded file

Converting Your PDF to Image

• You can use online services like PDF to Image to convert a PDF file to image formats like JPG or PNG
• Download this image for use on DMs Guild as your Cover Image
