Statement of Purpose
To,
The Visa Officer,
Canadian High Commission,
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
We are currently in the midst of a technological and computing revolution that will drastically
change our lives and potentially redefine what it means to be human. I am very excited at
the prospect of devoting my long-term career to such a dynamic, fast advancing field. Ever
since I was young, I have enjoyed dabbling with computers and experimenting with different
applications. Because my own lifetime has essentially coincided with the rise of the modern
computing industry, I can sense that there are still tremendous developments to come in this
field. It was natural for me to choose Computer Applications as my major, it is my central
goal to continue my education in a more competitive, elite, and international environment.
FAMILY BACKGROUND
I am proud to have been brought up in a family where valuable traits like discipline,
humbleness, respect, the importance of hard work, and good morals are given priority. I
belong to a nuclear family of 4 members, consisting of me, my parents and younger brother.
My father, Mr Vinubhai Dahyabhai Vankar is a ex-army officer and runs a well-established
security agency business and he served the nation for 27 long years and has done a
exceptional work throughout his life and I’m inspired by him in various ways such as the way
he maintains his work as well the discipline he carries throughout is very encouraging. My
mother, Mrs Maniben is a home maker. Considering that my father is an expert running a
well-established business in India and also that all the immovable property of my family is
located in India, my ties to the home country are profound.
ACADEMIC BACKGROUND
As of my academics, I have completed my secondary education of 10th-grade under Central
Board of Secondary Education from Kendriya Vidyalaya Vallabh Vidyanagar with securing
9 CGPA in the year 2015. On further continuation, due to my large interest in the field of
science, I opted for science stream with the major subjects of Maths, Physics and Chemistry.
In 2017, I completed my higher secondary certificate under same board (CBSE) and same
school and scored 64.4%.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
Apart from my academics, I also took part in plenty of co-curricular activities which help in
the overall development of an individual’s personality. I have been working for a NGO since
2017 namely Nature Help Foundation which works for the rescue and rehabilitation of
speechless animals and I have saved numerous wild animals which includes snakes,
monitor lizards, crocodiles and big cat such as leopard which led to appreciation from local
newspapers as well which is enclosed below. And also I was part of the National Service
Scheme (NSS) in my college days which works for the betterment in the rural areas. Also, in
my school days I have participated in various cluster and regional level science as well as
social-science exhibitions. Additionally, I was very active in sports too, representing my
school at cluster level twice.
ENGLISH PROFCIENCY
As per my strong desire to study in Canada with English proficiency, I prepared IELTS exam
and appeared for the same on 13th March, 2021. I got an overall band score of 7.0 with
individual band scores in Listening: 8.0, Reading: 6.5, Speaking: 6.5, Writing: 6.5. The
reputed institute has provided me with an unconditional offer letter which suggests that I am
completely able to handle the course load in English and any doubt raised on my proficiency
would be irrelevant.
There are certain reasons for me selecting Canada over India for pursuing higher
studies. They are listed below:
● First of all, having international exposure gives a lot of benefits over having domestic
exposure and this can be a considerable factor in corporate job sector as well.
Moreover, a noticeable amount of Indian educational institutions is still in the
development phase, resulting in a lack of providing an absolute curriculum to the
students.
● In the modern approach, most of the Universities are lacking updated syllabus as per
current needs in this modern world. Throughout India, most of the universities do not
offer similar courses, resulting in lack of certain industrial skills which are highly
required in recent times.
● With technology advancing day by day, newer perspectives and market trends need to
be included in the curriculum, whereas most of the universities in India are still
preaching older technological education.
● Some of the universities’ courses are lacking new core concepts which are
quintessential for the IT field.
● The most important point for me is that due to current scenario because of COVID-19,
Indian institutions have decided to put their admissions on halt for uncertain amount of
time. As I do not want to waste my time further, I have decided not to study further in
India and started considering other options.
Firstly, India being a growing economy, there are plenty of opportunities for me to seek
growth in IT field after completing my studies.
Secondly, my family is well-settled in India and all the immovable property of my family is
situated in India which makes my ties to my home country profound.
Also, being an elder son, I have a responsibility towards my parents and I have to take
excellent care of them during their old age.
After completing the program, I would like to come back to my home country as I have
plans to get married at the age of around 25.
Kindly consider this application and allow me to be a part of Milestone College. In case of
