1. What must be done to improve the local athlete’s performance in the international
competitions?
#1 Funds – Athletes are the pride of our country and it’s an honor for us when they
excel globally. It might also help in increasing our economy.
#2 Facilities – new training grounds that would cater local athletes will boost their
skills and passion about what they do. If we have complete and new facilities, our
local athletes would be more determined to train and aspiring athletes would be more
encouraged to join and pursue their dreams.
#3 Government support – Government support encompasses the allocation of funds
and building of new training facilities. But, aside from financial terms, government
support also includes right and just recognition to local athletes even before they win
international awards.
2. Give traditional practices of the Filipinos which still make their way in a highly
modernized society?
Fiestas in different Cities, whether popular or not, is still a main thing in the modern
times. Like here, in Caloocan City, the local government still find ways to celebrate it.
Our family, personally, doesn’t really celebrate it even before but some of our
neighbors send foods to our house on the day of the feast.
Also, we are known to have the longest celebration of Christmas in the world. And,
up to this day, we highly anticipate Christmas season, and we would already get
excited at BER months.
We seem to love celebrations and gatherings since debut celebration is also highly
anticipated in Filipino culture. I have an internet friend from India and we are of the
same age. Months before she turned 18, I asked her on how would she celebrate her
debut, and I found out that in their country, they don’t really hold big celebrations for
a lady’s 18th birthday.
3. Which do you think should come first: physical beauty or artistic talent?
Personally, I think that artistic talent needs to come first in to someone. Artistic talent
represents our passion and aspirations as individuals. Unlike physical appearance,
people cannot judge how we think, how we act, what do we value, and what do we
believe in, just by looking at our physical beauty. On the other hand, through our
artistic talents, we have the chance to express ourselves and show what we are
capable of.
For example, I love dancing, I was a president of my Junior High School (Caloocan
City Science High School)’s Dance Club on my 10th grade and also the Vice
President on my 9th grade. But, I look kind of weak, reserved, and not really into
dancing, based on my physical characteristics because I have soft features. That is
why sometimes, I am shy to act as what I usually do when I am dancing, in front of
the people who knew me as someone very calm and reserved, because I am not truly
like that, it only shows when I am with my family, friends, and when I am doing
what I love, which is dancing.
