Around mid-1800s the British defeated the
army of Napoleon, Bonaparte and they
colonized India.

When Napoleon defeated That is the time that
England colonized India.
Hindu, were the first to cooperate with the
British.
This cooperation gave the Hindus to have
their capability and both study their own
culture and foreign culture and see their
weaknesses and strength.

belief that a foreign culture was superior to
the indigenous culture
But not all Indians were dazzled by western
culture.

Indian Muslim experienced difficulties against
their fellow Indians who were Hindus who are
colonized by the English people.
Indian Muslim is the first Mughal rulers of
India and to be under by Hindus was very
painful.
The Difference between the Indian Muslim
and Hindus caused a split to the Indian
nationalist movement.
So the Muslim demanded immediate
independence from the colonizers because
they were not happy with the prospect of
Hindus rulers so they did not attend the
English schools nor did they speak the English
language.
1817-1898 Sayid Ahmad khan
Attempted to solve the situation by
establishing the Anglo-oriental college in 1875.
Muslim students were encouraged to go to
school. Ultimately when independence was
granted to India in 1947. The territory was
divided into Pakistan (made up of present day
Pakistan and East Bengal now known as
Bangladesh, both areas being predominantly
Muslim) and India, a dominantly Hindu nation
