SEMI- DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN ENGLISH VIII

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the 60-minute discussion, the students should be able to:
 Identify what are the methods of delivering a speech;
 Construct an essay with the use of types of speech, and
 Utter the essence of knowing how to express your own thoughts.

Use the correct production of the sounds of English when delivering a manuscript or
memorized speech in an oration, in a declamation or in a dramatic monologue.

C. Motivation

Game Title:
Game Mechanics:
The class will be divided into four (4) groups. The teacher will give a quotation each
group will have a one representative. Every representative will explain what is the
meaning of the given quotation which is “Never regret if it is good, it’s wonderful. If it
is bad, it’s experience” by Victoria Halt.
D. Lesson Proper

The teacher will discuss what is the meaning of speech and the four (4) methods of
delivering a speech. Then ask the following:

There are four (4) methods of Delivering a Speech

1. Manuscript Speech or Speaking


A speaker reads the prepared documents
2. Memorized Speech
The speaker memorizes the prepared document.
3. Impromptu Speech
A not prepared speech
4. Extemporaneous Speech
A speech with limited time for preparation.

The three Types of Speeches are:

1. The Informative
Provided Information
2. The Persuasive
Persuade the audience belief
3. The Special Occasion
A speech that fits the occasion

E. Application

-The teacher will flash a card with a written jumbled letters. The students will decipher
the words behind it. Then, the students will write their answers on the chat box ( Google
meet). The first five students who will answer first will garner five (5) points and will be
the winner.

F. Generalization
This time, the teacher will ask a quick recap of the topic.
- What is speech?
- What are the methods of delivering a speech? Can you give one?
- How about the other methods?
- What are the three types of speech?
IV. Evaluation
Construct your own speech, at least four (4) paragraphs. You can choose any of the types of
speech. Write your speech in a one whole sheet of paper.

V. Assignment

Practice on how you are going to deliver your speech
