student from STKIP PGRI Bandar Lampung. So, today I am standing here for
conducting my research.
Okay, let’s begin our lesson.
Today, we are going to learn about descriptive text.
Anyone here knows about descriptive text?. What does descriptive text means?

Okay, now I’ll give you the example:
Do you guys have pet? Like a cat maybe?
Students: yesss..
Okay now, if you have a cat, how to describe it? What things that we have to
consider about?
Students: shape, fur, color
Okay, that’s good.
So, if we want to describe something we have to think about two things:
1. Identification: identifies the thing being described
2. Description: describe the characteristics
Because you guys are in the tenth grade so the descriptive text is focus on
historical building and tourism places. Okay now please look at your paper, there
is a picture in tour paper, right? What kind of picture is this? Anyone knows?
Student A: Stonehenge.
Yes, that’s right. Do you know this place?
Students: No…
So, this is one of historical building which is located in England.
Now, if you already seen the picture, now please previewing the text and
underline the words or sentences that you do not know.

Okay, please you (pointing student B) read the first sentence.
Okay, good. In the first sentence, do you find difficulties? What words?
Student C: I don’t know the word “visit”
Okay, your friend does not know a word “visit”. Anyone know that meaning of
that word?
Students: No, miss.
Okay now I’ll give you the clue, if there is a place and people who interest to visit
to that place it means that the people have to..?( what..?) Please make connection
from the clue.
Student C: oh yeah, they have to come to that place.
Okay, that good. Now, you (pointing student E) to read the next sentence.
(Student read the sentence). From this sentence which word that you do not
know?
Student F: I do not know about “stones stand in a circle”.
Okay, if you do not know that words, the things that you have to do is look at the
picture, from the picture there are stones, right? What do the stones do there? And
how do they form? Anyone knows?
Student A: oh yeah I see. The stone there (berdiri) stand and they form (lingkaran)
circle
That’s very good. Now read the next sentences please…
Do you find the difficulties in these sentences?
Student D: Yes I do miss, what does it mean by “nature didn’t put the stones
there”?
Is it difficult? Anyone know about that sentence?
Students: No, miss
Students A: I just know that nature means (alami) natural
Yeah that’s good, that’s almost close. But, if you still confused, try to read on the
next sentence to find the answer. Okay now, please student D read the next
sentence.

Okay, after you read on the next sentences do you find the clue? The next
sentence is “people started build this ancient circle 4,500 years ago. It means that
the stones were built by people and it means that the stones are not formed
naturally.

So, the key to comprehend the text are:
If you find the difficulties, you have to stop and think.
After that you have to make connections the words before of the words after, or
with something that you already known, or look at the title and picture from the
text
If you still confused reread or look back the words and find the context clue. Or if
you still do not know just read on to the next words or sentences to find more
information

and answer the questions in the answer sheet.
