Grades and Grade Points
Grades and grade points will be awarded on the basis of marks obtained into the written, oral or practical
examinations and/or laboratory performances according to the following scheme.

Assessment and Evaluation
The distribution of marks for a course will be as follows.
(a) Theory Courses:
25% of total marks shall be taken as incourse assessment,
5% of total marks will be awarded on the basis of attendance, and
70% of total marks are taken as final examination after completion of the course.
(b) Laboratory Courses:
40% of total marks are taken as continuous assessment, and
60% of total marks are taken as final examination after completion of the course.
Attendance Policy
5% of total marks will be awarded on the basis of attendance in the theory classes as follows.

General Regulations
(1) Promotion to the next year will be given if a student scores minimum GPA as follows.
1st year to 2nd year GPA 2.00 D
2nd year to 3rd year CGPA 2.25 C
3rd year to 4th year CGPA 2.25 C
(2) A student must complete his studies for a Bachelor’s degree within a maximum period of six academic years.
(3) For the award of the Bachelor’s degree a student has to
(a) take the required courses for a particular year,
(b) appear at the final examinations in all the required courses, and
(c) score a minimum CGPA of 2.50 after considering the grades of improvement examinations.
(4) A student will be allowed to repeat a maximum of 20 credits in four years Bachelor’s degree program for grade
improvement purpose.
(5) If a student obtains a grade C (2.25) or lower in a course, for the purpose of grade improvement he/she
(a) will be allowed to repeat the term-final examination only once with the following two batches,
(b) will not be eligible to get a grade better than B+ (3.25) in such a course, and
(c) can retain the earlier grade if fails to improve his/her grade in that course.
(6) A student who is not promoted to the next higher year may seek readmission in the present year and may
continue studies as a regular student. But readmission in a class-year shall be allowed only once.
Question Pattern for Final Examination
Question pattern and marks distribution for final examinations will be as follows.
(a) For 2 Credit Courses:
Time: 2.5 hours
Full Marks: 35
Question Pattern: 3 questions will have to be answered out of 5.
Each question will be of equal marks.
(b) For 3 Credit Courses:
Time: 3.0 hours
Full Marks: 56
Question Pattern: 4 questions will have to be answered out of 6.
Each question will be of equal marks.
(c) For 4 Credit Courses:
Time: 4.0 hours
Full Marks: 70
Question Pattern: 5 questions will have to be answered out of 7.
Each question will be of equal marks.
