Chapter IV

This document presents a study on students' level of satisfaction using the learning management system (LMS) Moodle for distance learning. It aims to determine student profiles, their satisfaction levels, factors affecting satisfaction, and the relationship between satisfaction and factors. Survey results from 23 senior high school students found they were strongly satisfied overall with Moodle. The highest satisfaction was with resources provided by the school to support remote learning. Time management was a major factor affecting satisfaction.

Statement of the Problem

This study aims to find the answer students’ level of
satisfaction on the use of LMS as medium of instruction on
distance learning.

Specifically, the researchers seek to answer the

following research questions:
1. What is the profile of the respondents when group
according to profile variable?
2. What is the level of satisfaction of the students in
using the LMS Moodle?
3. What are the factors that affects the students’ level of
satisfaction through the use of LMS?

4. Is there a significant relationship between the student’s

level of satisfaction and the factors on the use of LMS
(Moodle) as Medium of Instruction on Distance Learning?

Hypotheses

This study was guided by the following hypotheses:

Null hypothesis
There is no significant relationship between the student’s
level of satisfaction and the factors on the use of LMS
(Moodle) as Medium of Instruction on Distance Learning.
Alternative Hypothesis
There is significant relationship between the student’s
level of satisfaction and the factors on the use of LMS
(Moodle) as Medium of Instruction on Distance Learning.

Chapter IV
PRESENTATION, ANALYSIS AND INTERPRETATION OF
DATA
This chapter shows the analysis and interpretation of the
data that are gathered to draw out important information and
significant points about the student’s level of satisfaction
in using LMS moodle as a medium. For clarity and consistency
in the discussion the data are presented by the Likert scale
and Pearsons correlation coefficient analysis.

Table 1
Frequency and Percentage Distribution of Respondents
According to Age
Age Range Frequency Percentage
16 and below 1 4.3
17-18 12 52.2
19-20 8 34.8
21 and above 2 8.7
TOTAL 23 100 .00
As shown in table 1, in terms of the age of the

respondents, 1 or 4.3 percent are 16 and below years old,

12 or 52.2 percent is within the age range of 17-18 years

old, 8 or 34.8 percent is within the age range of 19-20

years old, and 2 or 8.7 percent recorded in age range of

21 and above.

This means that senior high school students are

normally within the age bracket of 17-18 who display a

wide range of intellectual development and who prefer

interactions with 21st century learning techniques such as

using LMS.

Table 2
Frequency and Percentage Distribution of Respondents
According to Sex
Sex Frequency Percentage
Male 12 52.2
Female 11 47.8
TOTAL 23 100.0
As to gender, the table above shows that the respondents are

predominantly males. There are 12 or 52.2% males compared to

11 or 47.8% females which means that there are more male

respondents selected in the study.

Table 3
Frequency and Percentage Distribution of Respondents
According to Religion
Religion Frequency Percentage
Catholic 15 65.2
Anglican 2 8.7
Born again 5 21.7
Others 1 4.3
TOTAL 23 100.0
As shown in table 3, in terms of the religious affiliation

of the respondents, 15 or 65.2 percent are Catholic, 2 or

8.7 percent are Anglican, 5 or 21.7 percent are Born Again,

and only 1 or 4.3 percent has a religious affiliation other

than the listed above.

This means that majority of the senior high school

students are Roman Catholic.

Strand Frequency Percentage
ABM 5 21.7
STEM 4 17.4
HUMSS 11 47.8
TVL 3 13.0
TOTAL 23 100.0
Evidently in the table 4 above, when the respondents are

group according to their strands, 5 or 21.7 percent are

enrolled in ABM, 4 or 17.4 percent are enrolled in STEM, 11

or 47.8 percent are enrolled in HUMSS, and only 3 or 13.0

percent are enrolled in TVL.

This means that majority of the senior high school

students selected respondents are taking Humanities and

Social Sciences Strand.

Strongly
Category Mean 4.54
Satisfied

As shown in the table, it is noted that the highest item

mean is on item “The school/university is helpful in

offering the resources to learn at home”. This is a

condition that respondents can concentrate on remote

learning using LMS moodle if the school/university can

provide them the resources and materials they needed. The

lowest mean is on the item “I enjoy learning using the LMS

moodle remotely”. This implies that respondents need more

orientation on the use of LMS moodle in their remote

learning.

A category means of 4.54 or “Strongly Satisfied” is

computed. This is a good indication of a positive

satisfaction from the students in using the LMS Moodle.

for learning online

Category Mean 4.43 Strongly Agree

As shown in the table, it is noted that the two items “time

management has a big impact on the use of LMS well while

learning remotely” and “I have access to a device for

learning online” has the same computed mean of 4.43 or

“Strongly Agree”. This is a generalization that both devices

and time management have a crucial part in the use of the

Learning Management System (LMS) Moodle.

A category means of 4.43 or “Strongly Agree” is

computed. This is an indication wherein the students must

have the necessary devices and knowledge about time

management to be able to reach their highest level of

satisfaction on the use of the Learning Management System

(LMS) Moodle.

Table 7 shows the correlation between the Student’s Level of

Satisfaction and the Factors on the Use of LMS (Moodle) as
Medium of Instruction on Distance Learning. Evidently, since
the computed p-value is 0.000 which is significantly less
than 0.05, this implies that the null hypothesis is
rejected. This justifies that there is significant
relationship between the Student’s Level of Satisfaction and
the Factors on the Use of LMS (Moodle) as Medium of
Instruction on Distance Learning. Also, with the computed
pearson correlation coefficient 0.519, this implies that the
correlation is strong. This means that the different factors
on the use of LMS (Moodle) has a strong significant effect
on the level of satisfaction of the students.
