Listening and Reading are receptive skills
because learners do not need to produce language,
they recive and understand it. These skills are
sometimes known as passive skills. The productive
skills in a need to produce language. They are also
known as active skills.
IMPORTANCE OF
LANGUAGE Skills
Language is the medium of communication.
Language is the medium of communication that use
arbitrary signals, such as voice sounds, gesture, and/or
written symbols.
Language is the spontaneous overflow of powerfull
feelings that recollected tarnquility.
A Languge consists of symbols that convevy meaning,
plus rules of combinings those symbols, that can be
used to generate infinite variety of messages.
TYPES OF LANGUAGE SKILLS
READING
SKILLS
Reading is the receptive skill in the written
mode .
It can develope independently of listening
and speaking skills.
Reading can help to improve vacablury that
help listening comprehension.
SPEAKING
SKILLS
Language is a tool for
communication. We communicate
with other, to express our ideas,
and to know others’ ideas as well.
We must take into account that the
level of languages
input(LISTENING) must be higher
then the language production.
LISTENING
SKILLS
Listening is a receptive language skills
which learner usualy find the most
difficult. This often is because they feel
unncessary pressure to understand
every word.
It is important to note that
listening is not merely an auditry
version of reading.
WRITING
SKILLS
• Writing skills help the learner gain
independence, comprensibility, fluency and
creativity in writing. Writing skills are specific
abilities which help writers put their thoughts
into a meaningfull form and to mentally interact
with the messages.
TYPES OF WRITING
.Free Writing .Independence writing .Process
writing .Essay writing .Narative writing
CONCULUSION
. All four skills support each other since, they are
inerconnected therefore, cannot be thaught
indepentantly lisntening and reading both rely on input
from an outside source and requair knowledge, and
comprension skills.

. The productive skills of writing and speaking are more


complex as they necessitate taking knowledge of a
language a step further to actually produce to new
language.
