Amazon is a multinational company with its headquarters in Seattle, WA. Even though some
would think Amazon is just a technology company, it is considered a retailer (Pr Newswire Us.
05/19/2014. (2014)). E-commerce 2018: business, technology, society. Amazon focuses on
different industries like cloud computing, E-commerce, digital distribution, grocery store,
artificial intelligence, and some others. E-Commerce Companies like Amazon, deals with the
major types of E-Commerce operation such as C2C, B2B, B2C, and C2B. Amazon E-commerce
model of operation focus in B2C and B2B market relationship of E-Commerce. Amazon
addresses the eight unique features of e-commerce technologies.
Ubiquity
Amazon is available just about from everything from your phone, tablet, pc, etc, from anywhere
in the world. You can be on the bus and go shopping on Amazon or even at the airport waiting
for your flight and be able to get on amazon. By implementing ubiquity amazon lowers the
cognitive energy (Laudon, K. C., & Guerccio Traver, C. (2017).
Global Reach
Amazon address global reach. Taking advantage of different platforms throughout the internet
Amazon reaches multiple nations, making its name to be known globally.
Universal Standard
Amazon delivers the same standard of product to everyone worldwide. Quality is very important
to keep consumers satisfied. Amazon accomplishes this well by having Global reach; The
internet is a global feature which allows the e-commerce market place to have a global reach and
surpass national boundaries.
Richness
Amazon uses the richness feature in multiple ways for example, sending advertisements via
email or promotional ads through Facebook. Also, Amazon uses IA to make the information
narrower and more direct to a specific user.
Interactivity
Amazon is a great example of interactivity. They provide great feedback on products which
helps customers decide better if they want to buy something or not. Costumers can use the
customer review section to read others customers reviews and decide whether that product would
be a good fit for their needs. In addition, an interactive chat feature with the users’ needs and
claims would be a great idea. Unfortunately, Amazon has not yet implemented this feature.
Information Density
Amazon uses information density in a way that the customers can better decide which
manufacturer to buy a product from by comparing prices. Amazon allows you to access
manufacturers and delivery services information, helping customers to decide which product
would be more convenient for them. This feature allows users to save time on browsing the
internet to compare and contrast manufacturers price.
Personalization/ Customization
Through Personalization/customization Amazon allows its customer to customize their items.
This is an important feature because it’s very specific to a particular user making the item exact
as user wants. For example, on certain products you can select a fabric pattern, color, and even
add a name to it.
Social Technology
Social technology is very important for E-commerce companies and Amazon makes well use of
this. Amazon uses almost every social media platform for example, Facebook, Instagram,
Twitter, Pinterest and many more to reach people from all ages.
