STATE UNIVERSITY OR PRIVATE UNIVERSITY

Choosing a state university or private university is a difficult choice for students and parents.
Because of the lack of information about them, students and parents always discriminate between
state and private university. Personally, both of them have similarities but there are unique
characteristics which distinguish.

The public and the private university have three things in common. First, Lecturers are the
similarity between the two universities. Both universities have lecturers with the same
qualifications as masters and doctors. They do not only have high expertise but also has many
years of teaching experience. Second, extra-curricular activity is one of the similarities of them.
They organize social activities and open clubs to improve student’s heath, as well as social skills.
For example, FPT University and Can Tho University all have similar social activities such as
blood donation, volunteering and sports clubs such as football, basketball and so on. In general,
public or private universities have common aspects. Finally, both of them provide opportunities
for students to study abroad. Students have the opportunity to receive scholarships to study
abroad through the contests or programs organized by the university. For example, FPT
University and Can Tho University have student exchange programs to help students study
abroad for the short term.

State University and private university have differences. Firstly, private universities are more
expensive than public university for some reasons. Public universities are supported by the
government so students only need to pay a low fee, however, the public university doesn’t work
with benefits. Private universities are built by persons or companies so they are not supported by
the government. This is why private universities are built to earn money. For these reasons,
private universities are more expensive than public universities. Secondly, the enrollment of them
is different. For state university, students who want to enroll in this college, they have to
experience the National Entrance Examination. This test is really hard. In addition, the test score
must be equal or higher the college's benchmark. In contrast, private university is easier. Students
only need to submit a high school report. Finally, the facility is the difference between the two
universities. For public universities, the equipment may be old because the public university has
been built a long time ago. In contrast, private university often has newer and more modern
facilities. For example, FPT University I'm studying at, all the classrooms have air conditioners
and a modern projector.

In short, public and private universities have similarities and differences. Both have the same goal
is to improve national education. In my opinion, both types of the university have their own
unique features to attract the student and parents. Choosing public or private universities is the
same because both of them bring memorable experiences throughout college.
