Ronulo Vs People

Ronulo, an Aglipayan priest, performed a marriage ceremony for Joey and Claire despite knowing they did not have a marriage certificate, which is legally required. The Supreme Court ruled Ronulo's solemnization of the marriage was illegal because a key formal requirement of a valid marriage under Philippine law - a marriage certificate - was absent. The Court held that missing any essential or formal element makes a marriage void.
