SPF Span Chart

This document contains 3 tables providing the maximum allowable floor and ceiling joist spans in feet and inches for various sizes and grades of Spruce-Pine-Fir (SPF) lumber. Table 1 provides floor joist spans for a 40 psf live load and 10 psf dead load. Table 2 provides floor joist spans for a 30 psf live load and 10 psf dead load. Table 3 provides ceiling joist spans for a 20 psf live load and 10 psf dead load allowing limited attic storage. All spans are calculated based on deflection limits of L/360 for floor joists and L/240 for ceiling joists.
