Some experts believe that it is better for children to begin learning a foreign
language at primary school rather than secondary school.
Do the advantages of this outweigh the disadvantages?
Humans begin to learn from the day he\she is born and throughout their lives
continue to discover new things. For some professionals, there is a difference in
perception ability depending on age, such as learning foreign languages at primary
school is easier rather than in secondary school. In my opinion, this has more
benefits than drawbacks.
The proponents of this idea imagine children’s brains like a white blank page
which is possible to memorize everything that they are taught. They have more
grasping power than adults and this ability gives them comprehensive
opportunities to possess fluency in other languages which is hard to gain after a
certain age. Certainly, for this is needed appropriate atmosphere and method, e.g.
parents have to get enough potentiality to communicate with their children in daily
life, also schools should offer relevant circumstances.
In my country, students even in primary schools have a quite burden syllabus and
this curriculum does not let them take time to include other trades. Therefore, in an
attempt to protect them from losing their education enthusiasm, parents try to
prevent them from being tired. Considering that children at an early age still like to
spend their time playing with their dolls and toy cars.
In my opinion, we need to assess children’s ability to acquire accurately foreign
languages and make a proper plan to value their time. The education that
possessing from an early age is a big prosperity for future life.
In conclusion, as we know children have carefree life that allows them to save their
brain clear as a white page. Thus, after a certain age, the talent for learning
languages becomes diminishable, so it is important to be engaged in children at an
early age.
