Methods

Participants

The participants of the study are only three (3)

professional doctors, regardless of gender and currently

employed at Capiz Emmanuel Hospital, Roxas Avenue, Roxas

City, who will be interviewed by the researchers. The

participants of the study will be selected by the

researchers based on their personal records believing that

these participants have enough knowledge and acquired

sufficient skills on their work and willing to share their

perspectives towards the beliefs of elders on modern

medicine.

Data Gathering Instrument

This study will utilize an online survey through Google

Forms (Online Survey Platform) to avoid personal contact

during the outbreak, with a researchers-made questionnaire

which are formulated so that the needed data would be

substantiated. The questions will address the general and

specific objectives of the study which will be focusing on

the views of the participants and will be open-ended for the

respondents to freely express themselves during the conduct

of the survey.

According to Canonizado (2020), researcher-made

questionnaire refers to the instrument to be used in a

research prepared or crafted by the researcher himself or

herself. The contents are primarily based from the

information shared by his or her colleagues, the panel of

experts, and the personal knowledge of the researcher

himself or herself.

According to Bengtsson (2016), open-ended questions

provide respondents with freedom of writing, a secure flow

of thoughts, and a detailed description of their

perceptions, which cannot be achieved using structured

questionnaires with preconceived questions and provided

answers.

The researchers will assure that the language used in

questions is neutral and commonly understood concepts and

terminologies. Also, the researchers will avoid vagueness

and will not use terms with double meanings and words that

are offensive.

Data Gathering Procedure

The researchers will seek first approval from the

office of the High School Principal of Filamer Christian

University to conduct the study. After which, a transmittal

letter will be given to the selected participants through an

online platform such as Messenger, requesting permission to

conduct the study. Upon the acceptance of the letters and

approval of their requests, the researchers will start

collecting and collating the data necessary for the

procedure. The researchers will schedule the survey where

participants have free time since the participants are busy

doing their everyday routines and send the online survey

through Google Forms (Online Survey Platform) to avoid

personal contact during the outbreak.

During the distribution of the Google Forms link,

consent from the participants will be emphasized before

sending. Before the participants begin filling out the

questionnaire, the researchers will discuss the purpose of

the process to the participants, the conditions of

confidentiality, including who will have access to their

responses, and how they will be analyzed.

Immediately after the process, the researchers will

give their contact details to the participants if they

wanted to keep in touch with the participants. The

researchers will express their gratitude to their

respondents for giving their time and participation during

the survey.

As soon as responding to the questionnaire will be

completed, a thematic analysis will follow. The researchers

will undergo thematic analysis to analyze transcript data

that emerge from the answers of the participants and create

a comprehensive and systematic record of the coding and

themes that are raised in the observations. Coding will

perform to identify patterns and themes.
