General Functionality Diagram
The diagram above(Diagram 1-1) describes how WebMessenger for Skype works and why the Desktop
Plug-in is required for Skype connectivity. It also gives a description of how calls to Skype contacts work and
why Skype-out credits are required to make such calls. The pages following the diagram include detailed
information on how the client works and how to use the client. This diagram is just for quick reference.

I. General
WebMessenger for Skype supports messaging, presence and phone calls
from / to Skype users, available to the WebMessenger mobile IM clients.
WebMessenger / Skype integration
The diagram above shows the call control and audio streams handling.
WebMessenger for Skype connects the WMP client with the Skype
network. You can exchange messages, presence and make phone calls to
Skype buddies from your mobile telephone. The information from Skype is
passing through the WMP server and the WMP client can see the Skype
buddies as one of the public instant messaging networks.
II. Prerequisites
1. Skype client application installed on your PC.
2. SkypeOut account for phone calls.
3. WebMessenger for Skype.
4. WebMessenger mobile client with Skype support.
5. A valid WMP user account with Skype proxy account.

III. WebMessenger for Skype Settings
Start WebMessenger for Skype. Your settings may look like this:
The server address and port should stay as shown above.
In the field “My WMP user ID” you should put your WMP public IM account,
that you are using to login with your mobile client.
“My cell phone #” is your cell phone with the country / area code, which will
be called when speaking with Skype users.
“Control online Status for Mobile Client” allow you to change the skype online
status using the WMP client.
“Connect Automatically on Start” connect the plugin automatically after it is
ready to use.
IV. Proper startup procedure
1. Start Skype. Make sure you have sufficient funds in your SkypeOut
account.
2. Start WebMessenger for Skype. Configure it properly (WMP user name
and phone number) if necessary and click <Connect>.
3. Start WebMessenger mobile IM client. Login to WMP server.
4. Click on the Skype network and Import Buddy List (this should be done
only once, to populate your buddy list).

VI. Skype Settings
Allow WebMessenger for Skype to use Skype:
When you start WebMessenger for Skype for the first time, you should see
the following screen from Skype asking you to confirm whether you want the
program to access Skype.
Answer with “Allow this program to use Skype”.
If you answered “Do not allow this program to use Skype” by mistake, you
can enable it again, by clicking “manage other programs’ access to Skype” in
Tools->Options->Privacy

And change the access options to “Allow this program to use Skype”

Auto sign in:
Configure Skype to automatically login with your username

Make sure the checkbox “Sign me in when Skype starts” is checked.
Disable auto-away setting in Skype:
You should disable the auto-away options in order to distribute correct
presence to you buddies when you are using Skype in your mobile.
Make sure to set values of 0 (zero) for “Show me as ‘Away’ when I am
inactive for” and “Show me as ‘Not Available’ when I am inactive for” options.
Configure Sound Devices:
Sometimes the Skype does not function properly when the Sound Devices
are set to “Windows Default Device”

Make sure that for Audio in, Audio Out and Ringing options, native sound
device is selected.
