Tuesday 1/19/21

Hours worked: 9:00am-6:00pm

Weekly hour count: 9

Today I started my day by catching up on all of my emails. Tuesdays are the only days

we are allowed to work in the office so this is usually my busiest day of the week. I put together

kits filled with all the supplies our kids will need for that week for our virtual programming. I

then hopped on our virtual tutoring session from 1-2 to help any kids that needed homework

help. My coworker and I then delivered the kits I had made to all the students in our program,

which took a few hours. Lastly, we came back and did our daily zoom afterschool program from

4-6.

Wednesday 1/20/21
Hours worked: 9:00am-6:00pm
Weekly hour count: 18

I started my day by catching up on all emails. I then began working on our lesson plans

for February which ook a few hours. As usual, I logged onto my virtual 1-2pm

tutoring/homework help session. After that I made a poster for our afterschool program and

created a kit list and shopping list for the month of February. Lastly, I helped with our 4pm-6pm

afterschool program.

Thursday 1/21/21
Hours worked: 9:00am-6:00pm
Weekly hour count: 27

● Caught up on emails
● Worked on lesson plans
● Helped with tutoring session
● Contacted Enrichment partners
● Helped with programming

As usual, I started my day out by catching up on all emails. I then continued to work on

the February lesson plans. I also helped with our 1-2pm tutoring and homework help session.

After that I contacted potential enrichment partners. Enrichment partners are guests that come on

and lead programming for part of the day. For example, I have been trying to get someone to

teach virtual dance lessons and we currently have weekly virtual Karate lessons for the kids.

Lastly, I helped with our 4-6pm virtual afterschool program.

Friday 1/22/21
Hours worked: 9:00am-6:00pm
Weekly hour count: 36

Fridays are meeting days so they usually go a little differently. I started off the day

attending our weekly K-8 department zoom meeting. After this meeting I hopped onto our FSN

(family social network) meeting to get a better understanding of what I need to do there. Through

this program I will be having biweekly meetings with a few of our students in order to establish

goals and discuss areas where the student can improve in school. I will also have quarterly

meetings where I meet with the teachers and parents and mentors to discuss each students’

progress. After this meeting I had our weekly Americorps fellowship. These meetings are where

the Americorps members meet and get to know each other better and play fun games or discuss

important topics. This week we discussed our feelings towards the raid at the capital. After these

meetings I got on our daily homework help/tutoring session. After this session, the K-8

department found out that we might be returning to in person programming starting as early as

february. This was stressful because we had already made lesson plans revolving around an
assumed virtual program. This is frustrating because we now have to redo our lesson plans

without knowing for sure whether or not they will be virtual or in-person. In my opinion, the

person in charge needs to go ahead and make a decision and if they aren’t sure then they need to

keep it virtual since it is such short notice. The last thing I did today was help facilitate the daily

afterschool program from 4-6pm.
