TEACHER'S GUIDE TEACHER'S ACTIVITY STUDENT'S ACTIVITY
A. Pre-Activities
Greeting Good afternoon Ma’am!
Good afternoon class!
Prayer (The students will stand and pray)
Everybody stand up and let us pray.
Class (The students will back to their proper sit.)
Organization Kindly settle down everybody, so that we

can start our today’s activity.
Motivational Yes, ma’am!
Activity None ma’am.
Class, kindly get ¼ sheet of paper and copy
the 3 guide questions shown in the board.
Are you done copying? Yes, ma’am.
(The students will pass the papers forward
Okay Great! But before anything else I properly.)
want everybody to create 1 to 2 questions
that you wanted to know about Eclipse.
Kindly write it at the back of your ¼ sheet
of paper. Do you have any question?
Are you done?
Kindly pass the papers forward and don’t
forget to write your name.
B. Activity Proper For our today’s activity, I will divide the (Students are listening)
class into two groups. The group 1 and
group 2. Each group should have 1 group
representative. Group 1: Ma’am our representative is Andie.
Okay group 1, who’s your representative?
Group 2: Ma’am our representative is
Thank you Group 1. How about you Group Michael.
2, who’s your representative? (The students are listening and
understanding the rules of the activity.)

Okay! Now, that you already have your Michael: Ma’am I got the Solar Eclipse

more?
Okay, I will prepare more activity in our
next lesson. But for now, let’s discuss our
lesson for Today which is all about Eclipse.

lesson/topic. (The student are raising their hands.)
Thank you Judy. How about the two types
of Eclipse?
Faye: Eclipse has 2 types: Lunar and Solar
The Lunar Eclipse and the Solar Eclipse.

Discussion Faye can you give me the two types of
Solar eclipse - The Sun casts a shadow on the
Eclipse and its meaning?
Earth
Lunar eclipse- The Earth casts a shadow on
the Moon
Thank you Faye. Let’s talked about the
types of Lunar Eclipse. Patricia can you Patricia: Two types of Lunar eclipses:
give the Types of Lunar eclipse? 1. Total Lunar eclipses- Occurs when the
moon and the sun are on exact
opposite sides of Earth. Although the
moon is in Earth's shadow, some
sunlight reaches the moon. The
sunlight passes through Earth's
atmosphere, which causes Earth’s
atmosphere to filter out most of the
blue light. This makes the moon
appear red to people on Earth.
2. Partial Lunar eclipses- Happens when
only a part of the moon enters Earth's
shadow. In a partial eclipse, Earth's
shadow appears very dark on the side of
the moon facing Earth. What people see
from Earth during a partial lunar eclipse
depends on how the sun, Earth and
moon are lined up.
Thank you Patricia. How about the Solar SOLAR ECLIPSE- A solar eclipse occurs when a
eclipse, can you read it Kenneth? portion of the Earth is engulfed (cover
completely) in a shadow cast by the Moon which
fully or partially blocks sunlight. This occurs when
the Sun, Moon and Earth are aligned. Such
alignment coincides with a new moon indicating

knows the types of Solar eclipse? (Students are raising their hands)
Yes, Ed? Can you give me the Types of
Solar Eclipse? Three types of SOLAR Eclipses:
1. A Total Solar Eclipse - Only visible from a
small area on Earth. The people who see the
total eclipse are in the center of the moon’s
shadow when it hits Earth. The sky becomes
very dark, as if it were night. For a total
eclipse to take place, the sun, moon and
Earth must be in a direct line.
2. Partial Solar Eclipse -Happens when the
sun, moon and Earth are not exactly lined
up. The sun appears to have a dark shadow
Sharing of on only a small part of its surface.
Experience Thank you Ed. 3. Annular (ANN you ler) Solar Eclipse-
By the way class may I know; did you Happens when the moon is farthest from

of a larger sun-colored disk. This creates
what looks like a ring around the moon.

experience I think you already know if it is
Lunar or Solar Eclipse, right? Rayne: I experience Eclipse way back high
school. It’s Tuesday Morning and the sky
suddenly become dark and its look like a
scenario of Night while it’s morning. I never
forgot the experience because it’s once in a
blue moon experience that I encounter way
back then.
Yes, Ma’am.
(SHORT VIDEO) (The students will watch and listen to the
video)
But are we aware that Eclipse is dangerous
not only to us but also for the animals?
Here’s the reason, Rose kindly read the The Eclipse is Dangerous:
effect of eclipse. Sun simply outputs more power than our eye
is designed to handle, and exposing our eye
to that kind of power can damage the retina.
And in a nutshell, solar eclipses are
dangerous because the sun can come out
from behind the moon and "surprise you"
before you have a chance to look away.
EFFECTS to Animals:
• Pets may still become fearful during
the eclipse.
Thank you Rose. • Pets may be apprehensive about the
crowds that gather to view it.
• Pets can suffer "eclipse blindness." -
A view of that light can literally burn
any eyes, human or cat or dog, that
look up at it.

IV. Evaluation
Identification.
1. For Item number 1 and 2, give the two types of eclipse.
2. _____________ happens when the sun, moon and Earth are not exactly lined up.
The sun appears to have a dark shadow on only a small part of its surface.
3. _____________ is occurs when one astronomical object casts a shadow on the
other.
4. _____________ is occurs when a portion of the Earth is engulfed (cover completely) in a
shadow cast by the Moon which fully or partially blocks sunlight.
5. Give at least 3 reason why Eclipse is dangerous/harmful. (5points)
