SEMI- DETAILED LESSON PLAN

IN ENGLISH 7
DECEMBER 9, 2019

I. Objectives
At the end of the discussion the students should be able to:

a. identify the past and past perfect tenses


b. give values on the use of past and perfect tense in the sentence,
c. write a sentence using past and past perfect tense.

II. Subject Matter


Topic: Past and Past Perfect tenses
References: Essential English in Grade 7, page 267-268.
Materials: Laptop, PPT, TV

III. Procedure
A. Preliminary Activities
Prayer
Greetings
Checking of attendance

B. Activity
The teacher will ask a number from the student and whose student that
designate on that number will be the one to answer the question.
C. Analysis
The teacher will ask the following questions:
1.How did you find the activity?
2.What did you observed?
3.What was the topic for today?

D. Abstraction
 The past perfect tense is used to tell an action that has been
completed before another past action. It also tells an action that
happened in the distant past.
 Use the helping verb “had” before a verb in past perfect simple tense
to describe all subjects (I, we, you, they, he, she, it).
 [subject] + [had] + [verb-past participle]
 Using the helping verb “been” after “had” when using the verb “to be”
in the past perfect tense.
 [subject] + [had] + [been] + [object clause]

E. Application
The teacher will group the students into three (3). Each group will make a
sentence using past and past perfect tense. After 30mins the students will write
their work in the board.

IV. Evaluation
In a ½ sheet of paper the student will answer the following:
Instruction: Complete the following sentences in the past perfect tense.
1. She _______ (to email) six letters before she got a response.
2. Christian ______ ______ (to be) sick for three days before he got better.
3. It _______ always _____ (to rain) here before 2000.
4. Ana and Leah ___ _______ (to try) four times before they gave up.
5. My grandfather’s old car ___ ________ (to run) very well before he sold it.
6. The students ____ not ________ (to take) the exams before.
7. My father ____ _______ (to visit) China several times in the past, so this
visit was nothing new.
8. My brother ____ never _______ (to drive) to Baguio City.
9. I __________ (to speak) to the principal twice before, so I was not that
nervous.
10. The old woman _______ occasionally ________ (to need) help crossing
the street.
V. Assignment
In a ½ sheet of paper, construct your own sentences in Past perfect tense.
