LESSON: How do you feel?
REFERENCE AIM: realizing interactions in oral or written communication
AIMS: By the end of the lesson the students will
- make correct English questions and answers using given visual and linguistic
supports
- make correct English dialogues using given words and situations
- make short monologues to present moods and feelings in a certain situation in
their lives
METHODS AND MEANS: explanation, exercise, dialogue, demonstration; student’s
book, images, dictionaries
ORGANISATION: in pairs, in groups, individual, frontal
SKILLS: speaking, writing

TIME: 50 MINUTES

LESSON DEVELOPMENT

INTRODUCTION:
The teacher introduces the students with the topic of today’s lesson by letting them know that
they’ll discuss about moods and feeling in different situations. The students will make questions
and answers, they will create dialogues and monologues
ESTIMATED TIME: 3 minutes

ACTIVITY 1

AIM: make correct English questions and answers using given visual and linguistic supports
PROCEDURE: The teacher shows students a video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?
v=NV6RfexD_MQ)
They watch the video and then they have to answer different questions and answer about the
given video.
Example 1:
A: How does the girl in the video feel?
B: I think she is afraid or frightened or scared. What do you think?
A: I think she is sad.
Example 2:
A: How does the man in the video feel?
B: I think he feels happy or glad or pleased. What do you think?
A: I think he feels positive when helping others.
The students continue doing the exercise until they finish all the situations related to the video.
The teacher encourages them to do their best.
ORGANISATION: in pairs
ESTIMATED TIME: 10 minutes

ACTIVITY 2

AIM: make correct English dialogues using given words and situations
PROCEDURE: When do you feel like this? Act out exchanges as in the example and then report
to the class about your partner.

Model:
A: Have you ever felt really frustrated?
B: I felt frustrated when I was at a party and nobody talked to me.
B: Really? I haven’t. In fact, I am angry when they abandon me.

Each student receives a note containing a question. Ss have to be able to present moods and
feelings in the given situations. The teacher encourages the students to make correct answers,
then corrects them when necessary.
ORGANISATION: in pairs, frontal
ESTIMATED TIME: 10 minutes

ACTIVITY 3

AIM: Ss watch a presentation, read the sentences and fill in the missing information
PROCEDURE: The teacher allows the students to read the sentences quickly and encourages
them to come up with their own answers for the missing words.
ORGANISATION: Students complete the task individually. They report the answers to the
class.
ESTIMATED TIME: 5 minutes

ACTIVITY 4

AIM: make short monologues to present moods and feelings in a certain situation in their lives.
PROCEDURE: each student has to think and talk about how he/she felt in a certain situation in
their lives using as much as possible from the vocabulary discussed in the lesson and practices in
the previous activities.

Example: I was waiting for the result in one of my exams and I was so nervous that I
could feel butterflies in my stomach. I was as proud as a peacock not to tell my friends
about how I felt but later I discovered that they were as concerned and anxious as me.

Each student is encouraged to come up with a situation he has been faced up with and describe
his mood and emotions. They may use ideas from the pictures shown on the flipchart.
ORGANISATION: individual
ESTIMATED TIME: 10 minutes

ACTIVITY 5

AIM: complete the blanks


PROCEDURE: each student has to think and complete the blanks using words from the list.
ORGANISATION: individual
ESTIMATED TIME: 5 minutes

HOMEWORK:
Write a paragraph describing an event in your life that gave you hope, that made you feel
strong, proud, courageous or was an act of love.
ESTIMATED TIME: 3 minutes

EVALUATION
The students are appreciated for their answers during the lesson; the teacher points out the
eventual mistakes that have been made during the four activities; the students are encouraged for
the future lessons.
ESTIMATED TIME: 4 minutes
