Influence of Internal and Environment on Business
Business managers must understand the various aspects of the external environment's impacts.
They must recognize that the external environment contains numerous elements that can have a
significant impact on a firm's operations. They must conduct an environmental analysis on a regular
basis.
This is especially important because developments/changes in the remote environment have an impact
on business organizations. They must also comprehend the implications of changes in the industry
environment.
Managers benefit in a variety of ways from a thorough understanding and appreciation of the impact of
environmental factors on business:
Knowledge of the environment aids managers in determining the best course of action. They will travel
in a distinct manner, changing direction when necessary. Managers without an understanding of the
environment are like a bicycle without a handlebar – they have no way of maneuvering while riding
down the street.
Managers can isolate factors, particularly in the external environment, that are of particular interest to
the organization.
Managers can plan ahead of time to deal with a predicted crisis in any of the environmental factors.
They can create crisis plans to help an organization overcome crises.
Understanding the environment in which the firm operates is critical to achieving organizational
effectiveness.
Managers who lack or have insufficient knowledge are more likely to be ineffective because they are
"running on the wrong road" to achieve their objectives.
