Midterm Week 5

5 levels of sports competition

1. School Intramural Program (First Stage). Intramurals are an opportunity for


students to compete against their classmates or schoolmates in various sports. It
is open to all students. In intramurals, each grade level must form a team for
different sports and compete with the other grade level, the winners will compete
to the District Athletic Meet.
2. District Meet. In the district athletic meet, the different schools within the district
compete. Each schools sends its best athletes to participate in the events in
which they have been training. The athletic meet serves as a process of selection
of the best athletes and the best teams who will compete the division athletic
meet.
3. Division Meet (City/Province). Districts are duty-bound to participate in the
division athletic meet, they play against each other as represented by their
chosen best athletes and teams. City athletic meet is a dual meet where
champions of the public schools and private schools compete. In provincial meet,
the winners form the same municipality will team up and will compete to other
municipalities. The winners of these meet will represent their provinces and cities
to the Regional Meet (Palarong Panrehiyon).
4. Regional Meet (Palarong Panrehiyon). The winners from division/city/province
meet will compete with each other in regional meet. The athletes came from
different places within a region. Winners will compete in Palarong Pambansa
(National Meet).
5. Palarong Pambansa (National Meet). Palarong Pambansa is an annual multi-
sporting event involving student-athletes from 17 regions of the Philippines
organized and governed by the Department of Education or DepEd. It showcases
a multilevel national scholastic competition that starts with local meets.
